In January 2009, OMGTea founder Katherine Swift’s mother was diagnosed with a serious illness. Determined to do everything she could to help, Katherine began working with a breast cancer charity that funds world-class research. Spending time in the research unit opened her eyes to groundbreaking discoveries, particularly around the role of antioxidants in our diets and their potential impact on health. When she learned that green tea – and especially Japanese matcha – was one of the richest natural sources of antioxidants, she knew she had found something powerful.

Katherine and her mum began drinking matcha daily, and they quickly felt the benefits. For her mum, it was a way to regain some control that illness had taken away; for Katherine, it was a positive step she could take in support. Her passion for matcha grew so deeply that in 2014, five years after her mum’s diagnosis, she founded OMGTea.

From the first cup shared at home to being stocked in Selfridges, Holland & Barrett, Ocado, Planet Organic, Whole Foods Market, and served in cafés and restaurants across the UK, OMGTea has always been about helping people do something positive for their health and wellbeing.

We use their AA Grade matcha which has a smooth and delicate taste but is robust enough to stand up against dairy and alternative milks - making it perfect in an iced or hot matcha latte.
