Pat Porter first came to us with nothing more than a rough sketch and a big idea. Through early prototyping, design support and collaboration with our in house team and product designer Anastasis Constanti, she developed a proof of concept for a simple, tactile wellbeing tool - Myndtime.

Launched last year, she is getting incredible feedback from users reporting improved concentration and reduced stress.

Pat’s journey is proof that innovation doesn’t have to start big.

Brand new meeting & event space in Huddersfield:

The new Health Business Innovation Centre (HBIC) opening soon on the National Health Innovation Campus will offer meeting and event space - perfect for health and wellbeing workshops, training sessions, conferences, away days and team meetings.

What we offer:
• Large event space that accommodates up to 60 people, with full presentation facilities
• Small meeting room – ideal for groups up to 12
• Refreshments & catering – available on request

Located on the top floor of the Emily Siddon Building on the campus, close to Huddersfield town centre and transport links, HBIC provides a brand new, unique setting for health, life sciences and wellbeing organisations.

The Emily Siddon Building is now open!

It was officially launched yesterday by Dr Sarah Jarvis MBE, a Visiting Professor and honorary doctor at the University of Huddersfield, as well as a GP and respected media healthcare expert.

Dr Jarvis toured the five-floor building, the second on the National Health Innovation Campus, and unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of the new facility on Southgate.

This new five‑storey facility brings together cutting‑edge clinical teaching spaces and a fully operational NHS Community Diagnostic Centre, offering MRI, CT and X‑ray services in the heart of Huddersfield.

We can’t wait to open the doors to the Health Business Innovation Centre (HBIC) in a couple of weeks!

Low‑volume 3D printing continues to show its value for innovators - especially when demonstrating complex post‑processing techniques in metal additive manufacturing.

Back in 2024, our tech team produced a batch of stainless‑steel 3D‑printed parts for Holdson, specifically designed so they could apply their specialised electromechanical polishing process. The parts were then showcased on Holdson’s event stands to demonstrate the precision and finish their process can achieve.

This collaboration highlights how small‑batch production can reduce risk, speed up learning and give companies the flexibility to test, iterate and present their capabilities with confidence before scaling.

Yesterday Dr Zubir Ahmed MP visited the Emily Siddon Building to officially open the Community Diagnostic Centre.

During his visit he toured the Health Business Innovation Centre (HBIC) where he met with Professor Liz Towns-Andrews (Regional and Business Lead, NHIC) and Richard Paxman OBE (CEO, Paxman Cooling Systems).

Dr Ahmed also spent time speaking with innovators from the Huddersfield Health Innovation Incubator and Propel West Yorkshire, who were attending the Navigating Support for Health Innovators in West Yorkshire event taking place on the day as part of West Yorkshire Innovation Festival.

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting Climb Tour for an inspiring afternoon and evening of networking. The event brought together local organisations, leaders and innovators who are driving change across Huddersfield.
