Saw this lady in Manchester, she is so knowledgeable and have me so much information. Plus then sent me details of what trials would be available if I had needed them now. ❤️ Would highly recommend anyone living with secondary breast cancer to make contact with them.

Introducing our Clinical Trials Nurse Mel, who has over 20 years of cancer and trials experience. She heads up our free, confidential Clinical Trials Service to help people living with secondary (metastatic) breast cancer explore clinical trials as part of their treatment pathway.

"Huge thanks for the time you spent on the phone to me a few weeks ago. After your guidance I got transferred to a new oncologist and he put me forward for one of the trials you suggested. I had confirmation today that I have been accepted onto trial." - patient

We have helped almost 1,000 people with our service since it started and we’re launching a new appeal tomorrow to help even more. If we raise £5,000 in a week, the Big Give will match it!

Find out more about our Clinical Trials Service here: https://make2ndscount.co.uk/support/clinical-trials-service

Our appeal launches tomorrow!

Hello everyone, I know I've not posted for a long time. I have been busy trying to live my life as normal. I'm still stable as of 6 months ago which is great. Another scan looming, not so great! All in all things are good and I'm well.
I have been made aware of another petition to lower breast cancer screening, started by a lady who has been diagnosed. I don't know this lady, but that doesn't matter. You all supported me in my efforts before, and most of you don't know me personally right? I'm hoping I can call on you once again to support this lady by signing her petition. The more times we shout about this important subject, the better chance we have of being heard.
I'm popping the link here in the hope you could find the time to sign. Don't forget to verify your signature in your email or your signature won't be counted. Thanks ❤️ 🙏🏻https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/720626

Hello everyone, I'm sorry I've been silent on here for a while. I've been concentrating on myself and my family!
However, I'm now asking (once again) for your help. So many of you got behind me with the petition and for that I'm so grateful. For the same cause we have a new approach.........Who's willing to help me?
All it involves is emailing your MP. I have the letter which I can forward, you just need to add your own details and send to your own MP.
A wonderful bath MP Wera Hobhouse has presented a bill to Parliament for the breast cancer screening age to be reviewed and lowered!
In addition, she has tabled an Early Day Motion for the same aims as another route to try and secure a more traditional debate on reviewing the screening age. So far, this has been signed by 44 cross-party MPs to show their support!
WE NEED MORE MP'S TO SIGN AND SUPPORT THE BILL. This is why I'm asking you as my friends to support this and approach your MP.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer and sadly one of the leading causes of death in women under 50.
I never dreamt this would happen to me, but it has. Let's try and prevent rather than cure/treat!

This link shows Wera Hobhouse Lib Dem MP for Bath who gave a speech on Tuesday in Westminster Hall in favour of earlier breast cancer screening. Typically another disappointing response from the government, but Wera Hobhouse is pretty amazing in what she's saying. My petition also gets a mention. Wera Hobhouse was approached by 2 of her constituents with breast cancer, one who follows me on Instagram and has been keeping me updated on progress. Although the government response is disappointing, the fact this is being talked about is fantastic. If anyone is willing to contact their MP in the same way that would be amazing. Imagine if we all had an MP that listened and believed in what we're saying! Just imagine!

This is why we should support campaigns like Asda's Tickled Pink! This kind of research could literally mean the difference between life and death. This kind of research gives me hope that I may be here to see my grandchildren ❤️

Beyond sad, and everyone's nightmare 😢

“Megan loved being a mum. The children were the best thing that ever happened to Megan. She was a wonderful person.

“When she found the lump in January 2017, she was worried but she knew she was young, fit and healthy. Even when they told her it was breast cancer she said ‘That’s fine, I can beat this; it’s not the end of the world’. She was so positive and was adamant this wouldn’t be the end of her life. She wanted to carry on fighting for our children and for Lewis and Annabel.

“Her positivity was crushed as soon as we were told it was terminal (February 2017). It had spread to her ribs. She Googled her prognosis and saw that the life expectancy for the type of breast cancer she had was 2 years. She was devastated that she would never see the children get married or that she would never become a grandma.” - Lee

Megan died in April 2017, and the family have been fundraising for Breast Cancer Now ever since.

When Megan told her husband Lee that she had found a lump in her breast, he never imagined losing her just 3 months later.

Their children, Zara and Rocco, were aged just 3 and 1 when Megan died of breast cancer at the age of 32.

Since she died, Lee, Zara, Rocco and Lee’s 2 children from a previous marriage, Lewis and Annabel, have raised nearly £60,000 for Breast Cancer Now in her memory.

“Fundraising started because I needed something to focus on. We’re doing something for Megan and other people like her. We want to save other people from going through what we’ve been through. If we can save just 1 mummy it would make such a difference.”

In 2019, Lee, Lewis and Annabel visited Breast Cancer Now’s Toby Robins Research Centre to see the impact of the money they were raising. Megan’s name is on the wall at the research centre.

Every year the family takes part in The Clifftop Challenge in Kent, an organised run where you can choose your distance of either 55 miles, 36 miles, 26 miles, 15 miles, 10 miles, or 5 miles.

This year, 44 members of their friends and family will be taking part.

So here we are! Together we have achieved so much and made the government hear my story. Disappointing end as we couldn’t run to our finish date but this will not cloud my pride. I am beyond grateful to those who have supported this petition in one way or another. And the friends I’ve made along the way for that alone I’m glad I started this. My family and friends have been my biggest supporters! ❤️
The Breast Intentions Instagram won’t end, I’m focusing on my next challenge! So watch this space. ❤️
