Holding weights up by your shoulders, bend at the knees pressing your b***y back - like sitting in a chair. Squeeze your b***y and raise back up.

Tips:
Even though you’re front loaded with weight, work to keep your chest lifted and your weight in your heels. Don’t let the weight pull you forward

Ensure you have proper squat form - b***y goes back and knees track towards your toes, but never past

Modification - No weight is needed for modifications. Rock out bodyweight squats with your arms in front of your chest

Ok - I want to set the record straight. Push ups on our knees are not GIRL push ups. I’m not quite sure why so many refer to them as that. Here’s the deal …

Push ups from the TOES are an awesome strength building workout as you are pushing 66% of your body weight. Yes - a lot and that’s why push ups are so hard.

BUT!! When we modify and do the push ups from our knees, that only drops to 53% of our bodyweight. Still quite an awesome workout!! (Now that is providing we are in perfect form and alignment. When the hips go up that drops drastically).

Push ups are beneficial for building upper body strength. They work the triceps, pectoral muscles (chest), shoulders and even the quadriceps. When done with proper form, they can also strengthen the lower back and core by engaging (pulling in) the abdominal muscles. Push ups are a fast and effective exercise for building strength.

Let’s face it - We’re all motivated by rewards! It’s human nature. We learned it as small children - and it has stuck with most of us through into adulthood. I have found that using recognition and rewards are key to staying on track in the beginning phase of starting your fitness journey. Daily rewards help to build the habits that last a lifetime.

I told you yesterday about my SECRET, and most effective motivation tool - the GOLD STAR. Did you read that post? If not - I highly recommend scrolling back and checking it out. Those silly little gold stars are so powerful for all our clients that use them for motivation.

Today we want to talk about another tool that works SO BEAUTIFULLY with the gold stars. A support group - all following the same calendar, using stickers, and sharing each day pics of their earned stickered calendars.

On Monday we’re kicking off our next online 21-day fitness challenge - and we are using BOTH of these tools. The gold star stickers, AND a support group.

Here’s how it works:
Together as a group, we are going to do 21 days of simple at-home workouts. Each day I’ll be posting a video in a private group with the day’s workout. These workouts can be done by anyone, at any fitness level, with no equipment needed.

There will be a calendar to print up and hang somewhere that you will clearly see every day! Get yourself a pack of stickers and each day you complete the workout, slap your sticker on the calendar.

We’ll each be sharing our calendars with the group for extra motivation & accountability. If you struggle with motivation - and you’re looking for a fun way to get going on your fitness journey, we’d love to have you.

My SECRET - and most effective - tip for motivation! And a challenge for YOU to use it too!

Growing up, what did we all love? When we did something good, and we got a gold star sticker to recognise it. Whether we did an assignment well in school and our teacher put a sparkly, smiley sticker on our work, or we did our chores and our parents put a sticker on our chart. What kids do for those adorable stickers - is amazing!

And what’s more amazing - those silly stickers work with adults too! It’s in our human upbringing to want to be rewarded & recognised for our actions. Also - the fear of missing out on a reward, even as small as a sticker, is just as motivating.

So yup - my secret, and most effective tool, that helped literally thousands of clients get started and stick to their fitness & health goals - is a simple gold star sticker.

When it comes to exercise, sometimes less is more 🙂 Did you know that a 15-minute workout with 1 minute high intensity has the same benefits as 45 minutes of jogging?

A study published in PLOS ONE compared the effect of 45 minutes of jogging to a short 10-minute workout (including just a single minute of high-intensity sprinting). After 12 weeks, participants in both experimental groups showed the same improvements in both cardiovascular and metabolic health. "Brief intense interval exercise improved indices of cardiometabolic health to the same extent as traditional endurance training in sedentary men, despite a five-fold lower exercise volume and time commitment," the study concludes.
