Littlewick Medical Centre

Littlewick Medical Centre Welcome to our page for the latest news, updates, and helpful healthcare tips from our practice.

We are proud to be part of Erewash Health Partnership, alongside 6 other local GP practices. Serving the Ilkeston community and surrounding areas, Littlewick Medical Centre is a GP practice committed to high-quality, compassionate care. We offer a full range of GP and nursing services, from routine appointments and long-term condition management to health checks, vaccinations, and wellbeing support. We are a training practice, supporting medical students, doctors training to become GPs, and nurses, helping to shape the next generation of healthcare professionals. Our team includes seven partners, and we also have a purpose-built branch surgery in West Hallam. In 2010, we moved into a brand-new surgery on the site of the original Littlewick practice, with disabled access and patient parking via Orchard Street. We are proud to be part of the Erewash Health Partnership, a network of seven local practices working together to provide coordinated care across the area. The partnership includes Aitune Medical Practice, South Street Surgery, Eden Surgery, Gladstone House Surgery, West Park Surgery, Moir Medical Centre, and Littlewick Medical Centre. For any clinical queries, patients should contact the practice directly. At Littlewick Medical Centre, we’re here to listen, support, and work with our patients to build a healthier community.

From October to March we can’t make enough vitamin D from sunlight, so to keep bones and muscles healthy, it’s best to take a daily 10 microgram supplement of vitamin D. You can get vitamin D from most pharmacies and retailers.

Children under 6 are now routinely offered the MMRV vaccine as part of the NHS childhood vaccination programme.

MMRV replaces the existing MMR vaccine and adds protection against chickenpox, alongside measles, mumps and rubella.

You don’t need to do anything — your GP will contact you when your child is due.

🔵Critical incident stood down at NUH, but pressures remain 🔵

This morning, we stood down the Critical Incident that was declared on Tuesday due to the severe and sustained pressure on our hospitals.

Although pressures have eased, we remain at our highest escalation level short of declaring a Critical Incident. Our hospitals remain busy.

While numbers are lower, patients are still experiencing long waits in A&E, and demand for beds remains extremely high. Many wards continue to care for more patients than usual.

Please continue to help by only using A&E for emergencies or serious accidents. For all other health concerns, please call 111 first so you can be directed to the most appropriate service.

We again want to apologise to those who have been impacted by the pressures and thank our communities for their ongoing support. We would also like to thank our colleagues, whose response throughout this Critical Incident has been remarkable.
