As we enter into Eating Disorder Awareness week, Roberta - co-owner of 34 The Mall - shares her thoughts and feelings about this topic:

“Eating disorders remain among the most dangerous and complex mental health disorders, and still hold the highest morbidity rate.

Here is a brief summary of some things that I have been pondering today:

ANGER at a system which still repeadly fails so many people 😡

FRUSTRATION at the constant barrage of unhelpful content on social media, making maintaining recovery SO much harder 😖

PRIDE that I am using the resources I have to try to make even the tiniest of differences ☺️

SADNESS for all the years that ED has affected my life and the lives of others 😔

HOPE that with more education, understanding, compassion and empathy, we can all help to make a difference.🙏

If you would like to learn more, please message me on 07894546619 or attend one of my trainings:

🌈Sunday 8th March at 34 The Mall (1 space left)
🌈Sunday 14th Aprill (online)

If you are struggling, or know someone who is struggling, with any form of ED or disordered eating please reach out - no pressure or judgement.”

Welcome to Diana - the 40th practitioner at 34 The Mall! 🙌

She currently works for the CWY and Paragon services in Portsmouth and on the Isle of Wight, as well as privately.

Her work is trauma-informed and body-aware, integrating CBT, Gestalt therapy, and Holosomatic Body Therapy. Diana’s approach recognises the connection between mind and body, supporting clients to feel safer, more grounded, and gently reconnected with themselves at their own pace.

She offers one-to-one trauma-focused therapy alongside nervous-system-focused workshops.

Welcome to Kelsey Fifield 🌸

Kelsey is a Registered Adult Nurse and Aesthetic Practitioner with doctor and surgeon led training. Patient safety, in-depth facial anatomy and ethical practice are at the core of everything she practices.

Alongside her aesthetic practice, she has a background within acute NHS settings and a long-standing special interest in emergency medicine, having worked within the NHS since 2020, including throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

She specialises in subtle, natural-looking aesthetic treatments designed to enhance your features while maintaining facial harmony and balance. Her approach is conservative and refined, focusing on timeless results rather than overdone trends. Every client receives a comprehensive, face to face consultation to ensure treatments are safe, appropriate and fully tailored to their individual goals.

All treatments are delivered in line with UK regulations, with full informed consent.

Eating Disorder Training and exploration session at 34 The Mall🪷

Led by Roberta McClelland - Branson, this session will be focusing on three key components of understanding Anorexia and disordered eating:

PAST: Debunking myths and exploring facts, and examining how the illness can develop. To do this, I will be using Transactional Analysis as a foundational model and to offer it as a possible psychoeducational approach.

PRESENT: Exploring the dangers and risks, together with presentations of anorexia. Examining the day-day struggles and difficulties for those with the illness from a personal perspective, as well as for the carers , families and professionals around them.

FUTURE: Discussion around treatment options, relapse prevention, longer-term prognosis and current research.

Roberta will be conducting this session from a personal and professional perspective - both as a former sufferer, and as an Advanced trainee psychotherapist and qualified Life Coach. Her aim is for it to be informal and open for discussion, exploration and questions, in order that others can be helped to gain a fuller understanding of what it is like to live, and try to recover from, this illness and to discuss and debate ideas for support and treatment.

Roberta’s background:

I started life as a ballet dancer, teacher, tutor and later an RAD Examiner. Training and working in London, often working 7 days per week. For many many years, I understood this to be my identity. The real me, living my life.
BUT...I was ill. A lot. I suffered with depression, and a severe eating disorder for many years. I couldn't understand it...surely I had everything going for me, yet I wasn't getting any better.
It was only when I started the long haul of truly "working on myself" (eeek!) and being 100% honest with myself that I realised things needed some pretty major adjusting.
Cut to a little further down the line, and I am still a work in progress, as I believe we all are in some way. The journey has been tough with a capital 'T' and have had some VERY low points. I will be forever grateful for the support I received during these times, and for the belief others had in me when I couldn't see it for myself.
And now here I am...grateful again that I can now offer my services as a Life Coach and Psychotherapist in training in order to help others.

If you would like to attend please email Roberta on rjmcclelland@hotmail.co.uk or message 07894546619.
