This is shaping up to be a very popular training. Nearly full!
Eating Disorder Training and exploration session at 34 The Mall🪷
Led by Roberta McClelland - Branson, this session will be focusing on three key components of understanding Anorexia and disordered eating:
PAST: Debunking myths and exploring facts, and examining how the illness can develop. To do this, I will be using Transactional Analysis as a foundational model and to offer it as a possible psychoeducational approach.
PRESENT: Exploring the dangers and risks, together with presentations of anorexia. Examining the day-day struggles and difficulties for those with the illness from a personal perspective, as well as for the carers , families and professionals around them.
FUTURE: Discussion around treatment options, relapse prevention, longer-term prognosis and current research.
Roberta will be conducting this session from a personal and professional perspective - both as a former sufferer, and as an Advanced trainee psychotherapist and qualified Life Coach. Her aim is for it to be informal and open for discussion, exploration and questions, in order that others can be helped to gain a fuller understanding of what it is like to live, and try to recover from, this illness and to discuss and debate ideas for support and treatment.
Roberta’s background:
I started life as a ballet dancer, teacher, tutor and later an RAD Examiner. Training and working in London, often working 7 days per week. For many many years, I understood this to be my identity. The real me, living my life.
BUT...I was ill. A lot. I suffered with depression, and a severe eating disorder for many years. I couldn't understand it...surely I had everything going for me, yet I wasn't getting any better.
It was only when I started the long haul of truly "working on myself" (eeek!) and being 100% honest with myself that I realised things needed some pretty major adjusting.
Cut to a little further down the line, and I am still a work in progress, as I believe we all are in some way. The journey has been tough with a capital 'T' and have had some VERY low points. I will be forever grateful for the support I received during these times, and for the belief others had in me when I couldn't see it for myself.
And now here I am...grateful again that I can now offer my services as a Life Coach and Psychotherapist in training in order to help others.
