Mike turned 76 today 🎈

He came to the class, and afterwards he came up to me and said:
“Thank you for the best birthday present — you running this class so I can attend and be a better version of the man I was last year.”

That stopped me in my tracks.

When we’re younger, we count birthdays.
As we get older, we sometimes stop celebrating them as much.

But the truth is — every birthday is a gift.

And showing up on your birthday, choosing growth, choosing strength, choosing to become better than you were a year ago… that’s something truly special.

Because as we get older, each birthday isn’t just about getting older — it’s about becoming wiser, stronger, and more intentional with the life we’re given.

Mike reminded me today that aging isn’t something to fear. It’s something to honour.

Here’s to celebrating not just the years in our life but the life in our years 🩵

Be like Mike💙

💪 Eight months of showing up, putting in the work, and is now reaping the rewards! He’s always been strong, but balance has been his biggest challenge — until now. 🌟

He’s now able to stand on one leg while putting on his trousers (a big win for daily life 👖🙌), and has found our reactive stepping drills both helpful and challenging in the best way. 🚶‍♂️💥

It’s proof that with consistency, the right exercises, and a little determination, real change happens — not just in the gym, but in everyday moments that matter most❤️.

Muscle is the organ of longevity 💙

Skeletal muscle plays a vital role in healthy ageing. It supports balance, mobility, bone density, blood sugar control, and overall physical resilience.

As we get older, maintaining muscle strength reduces the risk of falls, frailty, chronic disease, and loss of independence.

Muscle isn’t about appearance - it’s about independence, confidence, and living well for longer❤️

From frequent falls to zero falls.

Listen to one of our incredible class participants on how the class has helped him 😍

Progress isn’t always loud, but it is life-changing✨

This is what real progress looks like. 💪✨

When we’re younger, we take balance for granted—until it’s gone.

Balance isn’t just about movement; it’s about independence, confidence, and safety❤️

It’s easy to feel like you need everything figured out before you begin—but the truth is, strength is built in the process. 💪

Progress doesn’t come from waiting for the perfect moment—it comes from showing up, even when it’s hard, even when you’re unsure 🧐

The older we get, the more we realise—it’s not about having it all figured out from the start. It’s about showing up, learning, growing, and building strength through every experience.📈

Age doesn’t limit strength—it reveals it. Every challenge, every step forward (even the small ones), makes us more resilient, more grounded, and yes, stronger. 💪

Moments like this make me feel incredibly blessed. Today I was reminded why I love what I do so much 🤍

2 class participants (89 and 91 years young!) who’ve both been attending my classes shared with me today that they are both great-grandmothers. Four generations in one family.

Through strength, balance, and movement, I get to support people not only in staying independent, but in continuing to show up fully for their families—lifting, walking, caring, playing, and enjoying life with more ease and confidence. Things that my class participants can do❤️

Exercise isn’t just for the young, or for those who are already fit and healthy.

There is no age limit on movement. No point where we should stop exercising.

In fact, continuing to move as we age adds to lifespan, longevity, and quality of life—helping people live stronger, safer, and more capable lives for longer.

Helping great-grandparents build strength, balance, and physical capacity so they can keep living independently is truly an honour.

Today was deeply inspiring—and a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to get stronger 💪✨

Have you ever stood up too quickly and felt dizzy or lightheaded? For some people, this happens often😵‍💫

It occurs when blood pressure drops suddenly as you move from sitting or lying down to standing. This makes it harder for blood to reach your brain quickly enough, which can cause dizziness, blurred vision, or even fainting 🥴

💪 The good news — there are ways to manage it!

Physiotherapy and gentle exercise can help your body adjust better to position changes. Regular movement supports circulation, strengthens the leg muscles that help push blood back up to the heart, and trains your body to regulate blood pressure more effectively 🩸

Here are a few helpful tips:
✨ Move slowly when changing positions (especially first thing in the morning)
✨ Stay hydrated and avoid skipping meals
✨ Speak with your GP and get your blood pressure checked or medications reviewed
✨ Regular physical activity keeps your heart and blood vessels strong

Exercise doesn’t have to be extreme, complicated, or done in a gym.

Staying active is one of the simplest ways to slow aging, reduce aches, and keep your body feeling strong and capable💪🏽

Exercise is really a way of saying thank you to your body — a daily investment that helps you keep doing the things that bring you joy, especially out in nature⭐️

Keep active every day — walk, stretch, climb the stairs, roll out a yoga mat, carry something heavy, or hit the gym - activity is medicine 💙

🪑 Sitting: The New Smoking?

Our modern lifestyle keeps us glued to chairs — and the health risks are bigger than most people realise.

The Numbers Don’t Lie:
🔹 The average adult sits 9–10 hours per day — that’s more time than we sleep.
🔹 Prolonged sitting is linked to a 20–30% higher risk of early death, regardless of exercise.
🔹 It increases risk of heart disease by 147% and type 2 diabetes by 112%.
🔹 Research shows sitting for 8+ hours a day can be as harmful as smoking when it comes to premature mortality.

And here’s the kicker: one workout a day doesn’t erase the damage 🛑.

Movement throughout the day is what protects your health❤️‍🩹.

Small Shifts Make a Big Difference:
✅ Stand or walk for a few minutes every 30–60 minutes
✅ Walk during calls or lunch breaks
✅ Choose stairs when you can
✅ Add strength training to keep muscles active and metabolism high

Your health is built in the little moments 🌟 — not just at the gym.

🌟 Meet our oldest class participant who is a real legend and turns up week after week to our Strength & Balance class! 💪✨

For her, it’s not about lifting the heaviest weights or chasing records — it’s about keeping life easier, moving with confidence, and staying as independent as possible. 🏡💃

Every class is about building strength, improving balance, and making day-to-day activities feel that little bit easier — from climbing stairs to carrying the shopping. Plus, it’s a chance to laugh, connect, and celebrate what our bodies can do at every age 🩵.

Here’s to proving that age is just a number — and movement is for everyone. 🙌
