YOGA ~ HIKE ~ SWIM
Love my collaborations with Heidi where I get to be part of a beautiful blend of mindful activities with fab people.

I especially enjoyed the swim / dip on this occasion because the view was mesmerising.

I love swimming but don’t have much time to do it; but I’m so glad I got to share the experience with our clients on this occasion.

I don’t tend to swim in cold water, preferring to stand, pause, ponder, breathe, dip… in just my swimsuit.

Words will never quite express the depth of pride and ā€˜love’ (in a professional but friendly student-coach way) I have for this awesome human 🩵

We have been working together for about three years and I have seen them evolve and grow in a way that you hope will be true for anyone you might have the privilege of spending time with.

They are (text books might say as being) my ā€˜ideal client’, from a trauma-informed somatic perspective.

From our early days of trauma-informed somatics (functional / intuitive / embodied movement, somatic breathwork, guided meditation and relaxation) in order to support them through some serious challenges… to now…

… still incorporating somatic awareness of body, heart, mind, spirit… but they are now strength training with me and developing great skill with the kettlebell.

The healing journey continues and it has not been plain sailing; it has been a slow, steady path but they have committed to their whole-body wellbeing and the human before me, embodies SOMATIC STRENGTH.

They are one empowered being and I am grateful to be witness to their strength.

If you are looking for a more somatic way to strength train, to support you through life’s challenges or trauma that you may be experiencing… I have a couple of spaces in September for regular clients.

It takes time to build solid relationships
It takes times to get strong
etc…

I think you get where I’m going with this…

You can’t rush
There’s no quick fix
There will be ups and downs, circling, left and right, dead ends, loop the loops

But if you keep ā€˜moving’, things will change…

Bit by bit
Breath by breath
Step by step

🩵 IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO START MOVING
… and everyBODY is able to move in some way - when we are offered time, space, love and patience in which to be CURIOUS.

Personally, I try not to focus on regrets and what was, so when a student or client says to me that they wish they had started ā€˜MOVING’ before now… I try to gently remind them that we’re moving now.

And when we move in response to what our whole, somatic body is needing… that is where the magic happens!

My name is Lou Curry; I am a mum to two boys and a trained primary school teacher.

I started Evolve Yoga Cumbria because I want to share my passion for yoga with every ā€˜body’; no matter their age, religion, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, body shape, social background etc....

Yoga is about listening to your body and working at whatever level is right for you, on any given day - finding the balance between challenging yourself and being loving towards yourself and, connecting to the innate power and beauty of your own body and mind.

A yoga practice teaches us to mindfully move and connect with our breath, which leads us to be mindful and present in our daily tasks. It teaches us the freedom to be still and it connects us, one to another.
