Bumpto3

Bumpto3 Sharing understanding of baby & toddler development- from prenatal to preschool, thru sociable courses + supportive 1-to-1s.

We find infant & toddler development fascinating! We like nothing more than being able to share insights and understanding of the amazing social, emotional & physical developmental progression that every new littl goes through - on his or her own special journey from prenatal to preschool. At the heart of 'Bump To Three' is the belief that each parent is the 'expert' when it comes to knowing his or her own child. Sometimes though the challenges of 21st Century life can distract our attention away from full awareness of the developmental challenges that our babies and toddlers may need our help with. Our aim is to offer you opportunities for reflecting on the 'ages & stages' developmental needs of babies and young children, in a sociable and fun way. Our small group courses & 'bite-sized workshops offer opportunities for sharing ideas & approaches with other parents going through the same experiences. Our services are accredited by the Department of Health's 'Information Standard' scheme. We work alongside NHS midwives & health visitors and as a complement to children's centre services. For your peace of mind, our practitioners are all trained, experienced & trusted, and are registered with their appropriate professional body. So you can trust that confidentiality and your wellbeing are at the heart of all that we do. We promise you: no judgements, no unwanted advice...only sound information on the developmental needs of babies & toddlers, and the space to make your own individual choices.

Throwback to the informal poll I did about night waking where nearly 10 thousand of you responded.
In no way scientific research, but interesting non the less!

Reassuring? Terrifying? Both?!
Night waking is NORMAL. X

Useful tips shared - relevent for parents of young babies regarding keeping them hydrated πŸ‘Ά

From Lucy Webber (UK-based IBC Lactation Consultant & Registered Midwife)

Oh dear, a TV doc saying to offer water to babies in this heat. This is really outdated advice. Please do NOT do this! It's potentially very dangerous and really not needed.
Breastmilk is comprised mainly of water so hydration isn't an issue as long as the breast is offered frequently. You cannot run out of breastmilk as it's being made 24/7 even if your b***s feel empty. In fact, when they feel empty milk is being made faster!

For combi fed babies, again you can offer the breast more frequently, and/or more bottles if you're combi feeding due to definite supply issues
Formula fed babies, try offering smaller but more frequent bottles, or simply more bottles. Some sources say you can offer water to formula fed babies, and you *can* offer small amounts but actually you may as well offer more formula.

Over 6 months old, you can offer the b**b frequently, and sips of water are fine too.

I'm sorry we still have to deal without outdated and dangerous info being shared in the mainstream and by medical professionals who should be trusted sources. It's too hot to go on a rant though, so I'll leave it there ;)
