The children have loved watching the amazing transformation from tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies!

We said goodbye to our 5 'painted lady' butterflies today as we helped them out of their enclosure and watched them fly away 🦋

Over the last couple of weeks, our particular interest has been 'growing and the natural world'.
We have visited farms to look at baby animals, been on a mini beast hunt, talked about how strawberries grow, as well as picked and eaten them, created various tuff trays for the children to explore, and had fun in a paddling pool 'swamp!'
After reading the story Jack and the beanstalk, the children planted their own beanstalks. They used a plastic bag to act as a greenhouse. They kept them damp and gave them plenty of light. When the bean had started to grow, they planted them into a pot and took them home so they could continue to watch them grow.

We've had such a lovely week with the children, enjoying pancake day and world book day.
It's amazing the difference a little bit of sunshine can make too 🌞

On Tuesday, we spent most of the day in the garden. The children enjoyed playing with the outside kitchen, on the bikes/scooters, in the playhouse, and with a pancake inspired tuff tray.
We combined our themes today by reading 'Mr Wolf's pancakes' and enjoying some savoury and sweet pancakes.
We took full advantage of the weather and ate our lunch outside too.

On Wednesday, we attended a new group. Firstly, we listened to a story about Kipper the dog. The children then made a beautiful Kipper craft. Afterwards, they enjoyed singing, dancing and joining in with the parachute activity.
We then finished the day by visiting the park next door. The children loved playing on the equipment and having a picnic in the sunshine with their friends.

As the weather was still lovely on Thursday, we met some other childminders and went for a play and a walk in Trosley Country park.
The children enjoyed exploring the various play areas and collecting sticks.
Whilst in the woods, Christine also read the story 'We are going on a bear hunt'. The children then had to search for the bears hidden around the play area. Some of the bears had numbers on them and some bears had letters. At the end, we unscrambled the letters to make the word 'Teddy bear'.
We then enjoyed another lovely picnic in the sunshine.

Sorry for our lack of posts recently but we've been too busy having fun 😁

Here is only a small selection of photos showing our activities over the last few months.

We've had a great time visiting various parks, farms, soft play centres, the cyclopark, playgroups, parties, woodland, strawberry picking, a fire station open day and music groups. We've also carried out so many activities indoors, including pirate day 🏴‍☠️
