I love music and often am reminded of my clients when I hear certain songs, or stumble across lyrics in unusual places that feel right for the counselling room. 🎶

I plan on making this a series, sharing the lyrics I find profound or that sum up experiences that clients often bring to the session with me.

I'd love to hear what songs or lyrics spoke to you in a time of need or when you were experiencing something life changing, profound or meaningful!

Share the songs you think I should listen to below to add to my therapy playlist 👇

Channeling that Year of the Horse energy to take the reins of your mental well-being. 🐎✨

In many cultures, the Horse symbolises endurance, spirit, and the courage to roam free.

I've already worked with clients this year who are trading stagnation for momentum, learning when to find their stride, when to trust their herd, and when to let their intuition lead the way.

Mental health isn't a race; it’s about having the stamina to keep moving toward the horizon.

Who else is ready to break the cycle and find their gallop?

There's so much noise about finding your niche, and for me my niche wanting to explore everything with everyone.

I love talking to people. I love being curious about what is bothering my clients. I love coming up with creative interventions to support their issues and I love working with something I haven't explored before.

I am confident enough in my ability to support my clients with listening and I don't pretend to have all the answers.

As my wonderful supervisor says - the clients are the experts on themselves.

I will always let my clients lead us on their journey, but I will always walk alongside them and help support and manage to the absolute best of my ability! That's a guarantee 💯

As a therapist, whats your niche? Or are you happy to be curious about everyone? Let me know in the comments!

The 'therapeutic hour' is 50 minutes long, so what are you supposed to do after that time when you've discussed and explored so much, experienced a revelation or just got a few things off your chest?

Self-care is vital when it comes to therapy. Giving yourself the time and space to really process what you've discussed, can help you take what you've learnt in sessions, out into the wild. Helping you manage your emotions and make space for what you feel.

What do you like to do after a counselling session?

Ever feel like your mind is a browser with 100 tabs open, and you can’t find where the music is coming from?

Overthinking is more than just "thinking a lot." It’s a loop that keeps us stuck in the past or worried about a future that hasn't happened yet. It’s exhausting, but it’s also a habit that can be broken.

Swipe through to learn why we get stuck in these mental loops and—more importantly—how to start rerouting those thoughts today.

Which of these coping strategies is your go-to?

Overthinking is exhausting, but you don't have to stay trapped in the "what-ifs." When your brain starts racing, use these three anchors to come back to the present:

1. The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique

Acknowledge your surroundings to snap out of your head:

5 things you can see

4 things you can touch

3 things you can hear

2 things you can smell

1 thing you can taste

2. Breathwork (Box Breathing)

Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, and hold for 4. Slowing your breath sends a direct signal to your nervous system that you are safe.

3. The Mindful Reset

Stop and ask: "What is one thing I am certain of right now?" Focus on that single fact—the weight of your feet on the floor or the temperature of the air—to break the cycle.

Take a deep breath. You’ve got this. 💪

I have been working with Addiction for two years, focusing on drug and alcohol use. I work with clients to work through their triggers, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and many of the other emotional and behavioural symptoms associated with their addiction. It is an area of deep interest for me and no two clients are the same. I offer my clients a safe space to share their feelings and experiences, free of judgement.

Reach out via DM's or email sensecounsellingkent@gmail.com to arrange a discovery call and an online or face to face session.

Keeping you safe: Working under the BACP values and principles keeps me accountable and held to a professional standard. I adhere to their ethical framework which keep both the counsellor and the clients safe.

As well as that, I make sure you feel comfortable in the counselling room to share what you need to, in the confidence that you are seen, heard, understood and not judged.

Being genuine matters. I present myself with authenticity, curiosity and desire to listen to what you have to say.

I have studied many of the core counselling theories – Psychodynamic, Person Centred, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and more.

I also enjoy working creatively with my clients and have a range of props that can help us explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions, when simply talking feels too overwhelming.
