CBT Counselling - Therapy by Hannah

CBT Counselling - Therapy by Hannah Offering face-to-face sessions in my therapy room or remote, secure sessions online. Cognitive Behavioural and Reality Therapy. Practioner Strategies.

I’m dedicated to helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges through evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centred Counselling. My career hasn’t always been in the mental health profession and helping support those on their healthy, mental well-being journey…

I spent many years in the digital marketing industry, meaning I had a natural intrigue in the human psyche with behaviour and thought patterns. During my free time, I volunteered for the charity Age UK, in their specialist “Friendship” service which also helped support in my decision to change my career path. One critical element I took from my therapy experience is not to assume that everyone has it all figured out in life. We spend too much of our lives anxious about how we are perceived and worrying about challenges in life. This is where Therapy by Hannah can help support when things feel a little bit tough once in a while. To ensure I give the best level of therapy, I am now qualified in Level 4 Counselling and CBT Diploma accredited by TQUK and recognised by ACCPH (Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists). The diploma covered the following framework to help aid and support on all bases including:

Approaches to Counselling and CBT, with a focus on Jung, Freud and Adlerian frameworks. Psychotherapy specialities including: Neuro-Linguistic in Practice, Brief Therapy and Transactional analysis concepts. Client-centred counselling including a deep dive into the Humanistic Approach and “the self”. Approaches and Models of Helping such as the psychodynamic approach, the ID, Superego and Ego. Particularly helpful for those with PTSD, anxiety, phobias and eating disorders. Post Traumatic Stress Counselling (PTSD). Areas of focus including causes, symptoms in adults and children, treatment and ongoing techniques. As a private therapist, it is fundamental to adhere to the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). This also includes legal policies and procedures, contracts, my responsibility to you, health and safety and assessments. Counselling and the Law covering all Mental Health Acts across the UK, Health and Safety at Work and Risk Assessments, Employer’s Liability Compulsory Insurance Act 1969, GDPR, Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Equality Act 2010. Also, a full DBS check can be provided on request, to ensure your safety and confidentiality in your sessions with me. Why choose Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Counselling? To support positive mental health, I provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a popular therapeutic approach that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Through identifying and challenging negative thought patterns. In addition, I provide Counselling, which can be a valuable tool for addressing a wide range of emotional issues, including:

Mental health conditions: Depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. Life transitions: Divorce, job loss, bereavement, etc. Relationship problems: Family, romantic, or social conflicts. Trauma: Experiences of abuse, violence, or natural disasters.

While many men experience anxiety, depression, and stress, societal pressures can make it difficult for them to seek help, often resulting in silence and isolation.

Here, I discuss the sad truths backed up with current data about the current state of men's mental health and how we must step up as a country to support those in need.

In my latest video, I explain all about "worry time", part of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps manage anxiety by scheduling specific times to worry about specific problems. This structured approach allows individuals to contain worries and identify potential solutions.

The weekend is finally here 🫶🏻

There’s something about being in nature that just immediately keeps me grounded and reminds me of the positives in life ♥️

It can improve mental health, reduce stress, anxiety and depression while also boosting mood, focus and well-being.

Today Lynn James and I spent some Mum and Daughter time together which was totally wholesome and being surrounded by all of these beautiful flowers, made it the perfect afternoon 🥰.

Have a great weekend you lovely lot 🌺

Anxiety is more prevalent than ever in the UK and I found these deeply distressing stats recently 😢...

❌The UK has the 62nd highest rate of anxiety disorders in the world, with New Zealand coming first.

❌1 in 3 (35%) employees in the UK suffer from moderate to severe depression or severe anxiety.

❌Around 8 million people in the UK have some form of anxiety disorder, while 58% of employees experience at least mild symptoms of anxiety.

❌Anxiety disorders can be treated easily, but only around 37% of those suffering get any immediate treatment and millions are on NHS waiting lists*.

It can be often easy to overthink and worry with Anxiety, with these emotions usually spiraling out of control without professional help. If you can't wait 2 years on average for the NHS lists, please consider private psychotherapists and do not suffer in silence any longer.

Other ways to engage with loved ones if a direct approach doesn’t quite sit right 💕…

Sometimes we worry about the mental health of friends and loved ones, but we don't want to tell them we're worried. Thanks so much to (Insta) for creating this beautiful illustration, showing there are lots of different ways to start that conversation.

And what better time to start than on when millions of us across the UK will be chatting about mental health? 💙

The CEO of charity Mind has spoken out about the government’s lacklustre response to tackle the 2 million people long mental health waiting lists…

And quite rightly so.

With the NHS already on its knees, there appears to be no plans from the government to take back control of long mental health waiting lists.

Is this why we are seeing an increase in private practice requests? Or should the government step up, find the funding and take back control?

See what Sarah Hughes, CEO of Mind, has to say:

Did you know that it's Blue Monday tomorrow?

What is Blue Monday?

Many of us are impacted not just by Blue Monday but this time of year.

The term was created by British Psychologist Dr. Cliff Arnall, who used a formula that took into account factors like weather, debt, and motivation. It is said to be the day when people are most likely to feel depressed and overall mental well-being sees a decline.

What can you do to help with winter blues?

🏃🏻🏃🏼‍♀️Stay active to boost those endorphins
🍴Eat well and regularly to stabilise your blood sugar
⏰Establish a daily routine that includes regular times for eating, exercise, and sleep
🔔📣🗣️Talk! Speak up! Share! Whether it be a friend, your family or a Therapist. Bottling up negative thoughts and anxiety can have a detrimental impact on overall mood.
🙌Celebrate your small achievements
