A busy afternoon for the team…
At 1418hrs on August 25th, the team were tasked along with NIAS and Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service to Camlough Lake to reports of a swimmer entangled on some waste fishing line, as the team proceeded to scene the welcome news came through that a paddle boarder had helped the swimmer to safety.
The team stood down and returned to base.
At 1544hrs on August 25th, the team were tasked to reports of x2 missing 3 year old children it Cranfield Bay caravan park.
As the team arrived on scene the news came through that x1 of the children had been located safe and well.
An ICP ( Incident Command Post ) was set up utilising the RNLI Lifeguard hut on scene.
Using L&MPS ( Lost and Missing Persons Search ) techniques, a hasty search was carried out of Cranfield beach, on completion of this, Kilkeel RNLI was requested by the team to Belfast Coastguard to support in a search of the inner bay.
Three search teams were deployed inside the immediate HUB of the area where the child was last scene utilising a teams from Kilkeel CRT, Cranfield RNLI Lifeguards and a callsign from Police Newry, Mourne & Down.
The search teams were tasked of carrying out a hasty search of the cranfield bay caravan park.
As the supporting team of our flank team’s Newcastle Coastguard and Greenore Coast Guard were arriving on scene the child was located just outside the HUB.
The child was brought to the ICP where a medical assessment was carried out while handing over to the parents - a welcome sight.
All teams stood down and returned to base.
On route home from the incident above the team came across a medical emergency where casualty care was administered before handing over to Northern Ambulance Service.
