I think most of you know some of this story but maybe not all of it
why do i alway do ?
well first off you know i love cooking baking entertaining and living alone. II don't get the chance much anymore and my friend group isn't exactly dinner party folk no matter how much i try 🙂
However, the important reason is to try to give something back to cancer support. They say 1 in 2 people will be affected by cancer in their life well my family has never been average have we ? In the last 6 year, I've lost both parents 2 aunts an uncle myson-in-law's dad and one of my daughter' best friends all to cancer.
ive seen friends and family ravaged by this horrible disease as it stripped the vitality and vigour from some of the most vibrant people ive ever met
ive seen a beautiful funny and so brave wee girl show more class and bravery than most adults could.
my nana had 4 Smart siblings ... 3 died from cancer
however, there is always hope there are always advances while Lung cancer eventually took my parents they both successfully fought off different types of cancer previously ( skin for mum and bladder for dad ) without the early treatment I received ( thanks to me being proactive and early testing I might not be here now ( i know can you imagine no Lilian what a trauma for you all ) there are so many successful stories about people living and living well after a cancer diagnosis it isn't a death sentence all the time
Macmillian Nurses and the Macmillan Cancer support team are part of what makes living with cancer easier for folk the love genuine compassion and care they give when people are at the worst points of thier lives is unmatched
i say often it was a privilege that we were able and supported to do hospice at home with my parents allowing them the dignity to have a ' good death' in their own home surrounded by love laughter memories stories and more importantly family that meant the world to them . however i cant imagine what it would take to do that day in and day out .
i saw the pain on the carers and nurses who had cared for mum and knew my dad as the cheeky funny man he was, when the came back 18 months later and saw him shrunken and failing ( still as daft and cheeky as he handed the nurse a magnifying glass when she was needing to catheterise him )
coffee cake , and c**k rings ....

Mabon is a pagan holiday celebrated during the autumn equinox, around September 21st to 23rd, marking the balance between day and night. It is a time to give thanks for the harvest, symbolizing a period of reflection, gratitude, and preparation for the coming winter. Rooted in ancient Celtic traditions, Mabon is often seen as the second harvest festival (following Lughnasadh) in the Wheel of the Year.

Named after the Welsh god Mabon ap Modron, the holiday embodies themes of balance, renewal, and the cycle of life. It represents the waning sun and the shift from light to dark as the earth begins to slumber through the colder months. Traditionally, offerings of fruits, vegetables, grains, and wine are made to honor the earth's abundance.

Mabon celebrations often include feasting, decorating altars with seasonal items like apples, pumpkins, and autumn leaves, and engaging in rituals that focus on balance, introspection, and thanksgiving. It is a time for families and communities to come together, share meals, and reflect on the year’s accomplishments while preparing mentally and physically for the more introspective winter season ahead. For modern pagans, Mabon serves as a reminder of the cyclical nature of life and the importance of harmony with nature.

Tonight is The Full Harvest Moon. It is called the Harvest Moon because in September crops that were seeded in Spring are now ready to be harvested. It is the final harvest of the year so crops, fruit and grain would be stored to last through the winter months. The Harvest Moon is very bright, probably the biggest and brightest Moon of the year.

The Full Moon tonight will also be a Supermoon. The Supermoon occurs when the Moon is the closest to the earth more than any other time of the year, making the Moon appear up to 30% bigger and brighter than usual. The Supermoon not only affects nature such as the tides and wildlife it also affects us, our emotions will be heightened, our senses will be sharp, things that were hidden or in the shadows can now be seen. A Supermoon amplifies the effects of a normal Moon, we will be feeling ultra-sensitive and emotional at this time.

Tonight's Full Moon is in the sign of Pisces. This will be a fiery Full Moon deep with raw emotions. Your sensitivity will be heightened. You may have to move away from loud noise, crowds and negative people. Try to be around nature tonight it will be very healing and nurturing to you. It is ok to cry a little and let yourself feel all those pent up feelings we hold deep down inside us, let them out and wipe the slate clean in your heart. Pisces is a water element therefore emotions and feelings are strong now. Be kind and gentle with yourself as you may be feeling ultra sensitive at the minute, you may have trouble sleeping and when you do sleep may have wild and vivid dreams, but don't worry this will soon pass.

This Pisces Full Moon is here to wash away what holds you back, to accept that healing is needed and necessary, Sometimes you have got to be brave and open an old wound in order to rip out what is holding you to the past and making you unhappy, this will then allow the wound to heal. There is something sacred about this painful process, it is something no one can help you with, it is something only you can do, but it is necessary if you wish to heal and move forward. put trust in the universe that what comes is for our benefit.

This is a time of transformation, the earth is going through a major shift at the moment as it heads into Autumn. We are also going through a major change in our lives as the earths energies project themselves onto us. We can use this energy of transformation to become and be what we feel we need to be in order to move on and be happy. Pisces will make us feel a little braver and stronger, we may find that we have the courage to do things we were afraid to do in the past. Open yourself up tonight to the magical forces all around you. Don’t be limited by the five senses or the ‘how's’ and ‘when's.’ Instead, believe in yourself and live from a place of magic and miracles.

The Harvest Moon is a time to reap what we have sown and cultivated this last year. Our own personal harvest is the culmination of our efforts to manifest a deeper and fuller life for ourselves. Name what you have harvested over the past year and bless it and yourself for the good work you have done.

This Full Moon let your emotions flow, get rid of past hurts, cry, scream or shout if you need to but let it out, allow yourself to heal. Let the waters of Pisces cleanse you. After tonight's emotional Full Moon when you wake to an Autumn Sun you will feel like a new person, full of vigor and energy.

Have a blessed Full Moon, may the Goddess watch over you.
