We came to the end of another Gong Practitioners course this weekend, and this one has been really special.

Each person in this group has already completed the Sound Practitioner training with me, and then they chose to come back in their original group to go deeper into the work with the gong.

Between the trainings, they have each spent well over 100 hours of in person training with me, along with 1-1 sessions and CPD days. That kind of commitment changes how a practitioner listens and how they play, and it’s why I don’t fast-track training.

It’s been a real privilege to guide them through these stages of their training and to watch each of them grow in their own way.

A very special group to finish the weekend with 🤍

* Dates for the next Gong Practitioners course will be released in the next few days.

These are the Bear Love Flumies I was teaching with in today’s Gong Practitioners class.

The B Love Method is integrated into my gong course as part of the core training, I feel it’s an important part of developing a deeper relationship with the gong.

As Scotlands Bear Love teacher, it’s something I feel very privileged to share. Not only the technique itself, but the listening, sensitivity, and understanding behind it.

I explore a whole range of friction mallets and approaches throughout the training, but the B Love Method holds a special place in how I teach. It’s always a pleasure to pass these skills on 🎶

With almost half the places now gone, I’m over the moon to say there’s a real momentum building around the Gonging As One event on Sunday 7th June.

This day is for gong players, it’s not for observers or clients, and it’s not a sound bath setting either. It’s a day dedicated entirely to you to bring your gong into the space and experience what happens when multiple gongs are held together with intention.

You don’t need to have trained with me to be part of this. You don’t need experience playing in a group setting either. Whether your practice has been something you’ve mostly explored on your own, or you’ve worked within other trainings, you will be guided throughout the day in a way that allows you to settle into the collective sound with clarity and ease.

These type of events can only really be understood once you’re in it, the depth, the power, and the connection that comes from playing as part of a unified field, it’ll be a new way for many players to experience the therapeutic gong and what an experience it can be for some people.

I’m also very pleased to have Sam from Epic Mallets joining us. He’ll be sharing his approach, speaking about his work, and offering a live demonstration of how he uses his mallets and accessories with the gong. I’m looking forward to bringing Sam to Scotland and meet many of you who are already using some of his mallets in your practice.

I can’t wait to bring players together across Scotland into one room who have a shared respect for the instrument and the space it creates. I played in an event similar to this in 2018 and have wanted to share it in Scotland ever since.

If you’ve been considering coming along, this is the time to secure your place.

Looking forward to welcoming you into the room.

On Sunday 7th June I am hosting an event to bring gong players together to experience something that most people haven’t had the chance to explore.

Gonging As One is a guided, multi-gong orchestration where the focus isn’t just on playing, but on how multiple gongs and players can come together and move as a single evolving sound.

I’ll be guiding the whole process on the day, step by step, so you don’t need any experience of being directed while you play. What matters is your openness to being part of something collective.

We’ll also be moving between playing and receiving, so you’ll have the chance to fully feel the depth of what is being created, not just from behind the gong but from within the soundscape itself.

I don’t mind where you have trained or what path you have come through, if you are a gong player and this speaks to you, you’re more than welcome.

** We’ll also have Sam from Epic Mallets with us, he will be sharing a demo of his work and giving us a talk on his journey into mallet making.

This is a day for gong players only, you will have to bring your own gong, mallets and stand to participate.

I hope to see you there.

On Friday night we held our 2nd all-night gong immersion here in Scotland (traditionally known as a gong puja).

There is a lot that goes into holding a space like this, not only on playing style, but deep listening & awareness, gong placement, acoustics, and so much more to come together as one group to make this event a continuous 8 hours of therapeutic gong playing.

This is an event that is difficult to put into words, a few of the players have already said they felt it, but can’t explain it - that’s my sign that it’s landed exactly where it’s meant to.

On a personal level this one meant a lot, I opened the space and my youngest son joined me for a short time, then played along with me again in the morning as we closed.
Special thanks again to Alan for his tireless help and support with these events which simply couldn’t be possible without him.

I love to host these events, to showcase what sound therapy is and what can be achieved with the right training, support and guidance.

It was my pleasure to play alongside everyone of the practitioners:
Emma East End Yogi
Dougie Rhythm Resonance
Mo Soul Healing for the Spirit
Gillian The Sonic Sister
Sharon Holistictherapieswithsharon
Gillian The Therapy Hub
Tracy Aromaway Complementary Therapies and Courses
And special mention to Michelle Anne for all your help, it was great to have you with us 🙏

Hope to see you at the next event ❤️

I can’t wait for this event next weekend. There are 3 spaces still available 🎶https://tinyurl.com/4shzbuh2

Not the lightest of posts but one I feel that needs immediate attention across the industry.

I was refreshing my First Aid qualification this week, it’s something I feel very strongly about, and it’s something that is overlooked more than I want to think about!

It’s easy to focus on the instruments and the sounds you want to create but holding a space comes with responsibility too.

When I first started delivering sound sessions I introduced small things to support grounding afterwards, tea and a small snack, and it’s nice to see this is quite common for after sound baths across the board now. But with that comes important considerations.

What happens if someone burns themselves with hot tea, what if they choke, what if they become overwhelmed or experience a release you weren’t expecting.

Would you know how to respond?

Health and Safety is not separate from this work, it should be a fundamental part of your training.

If you are working with the public you have a responsibility to understand what you are creating, from sound levels to room setup, to knowing how to respond if something does happen.

Eg Noise levels, this isn’t just a preference, they are a legal consideration in the UK and something I feel should be taught as standard within sound training!

If you are in this field please take the time to prepare properly, not only with how you play, but in how you hold the space around you. And at the very least, undertake a recognised First Aid qualification.

I’m often asked if people can book a 1–1 session with me to learn more about bowls and/or gongs. I used to offer this service however I now reserve these sessions exclusively for practitioners who have completed training with me.

Each practitioner has access to complementary mentorship for a full year once their course starts, including a 1-1 session in the studio to revisit techniques, ask questions, and refine their practice as it develops.

I hope to be able to offer introductory sessions again in the future, but for now my focus is on supporting the practitioners who have already committed to the training, making sure they feel confident in their work and have guidance whenever they need it.

Yesterday Duncan returned to the studio for one of these sessions.

Since completing his training he has expanded his collection of Himalayan bowls and is now preparing to invest in a couple of gongs. Before committing to his order, we set up the instruments he was considering so he could feel how they interacted with his existing bowls and playing style.

These instruments are not small purchases so taking the time to sit with them, listen, and understand how they work within an existing setup can make all the difference.

We also explored stand options and mallet choices. Sometimes the difference between two mallets can be night and day, other times it’s simply about how a mallet feels in the hand and whether it suits the player’s grip and approach.

Duncan left with greater clarity, confidence in his choices, and a deeper understanding of how his instruments will support the next stage of his sound work.

Supporting practitioners as their sound evolves is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

It was a pleasure to spend the day exploring sound with you Duncan. I’m looking forward to attending one of your sound baths again soon.

Absolutely over the moon that Sound Therapy Scotland has been recognised by the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce on LinkedIn as part of their International Women’s Day celebration of female-led businesses!

I can’t tell you how much it means to be acknowledged in this way. Thank you to everyone who has supported my work, I feel very lucky to be able to share what I love.

After hosting a very successful 3-day event, I was straight back into the studio teaching in the sound practitioners course.

The past 2 days we have explored sound in new and freeing ways. When we let go of expectations that others have put on us, as well as those we have placed on ourselves, wonderful things start to happen.

So grateful that I get to work with some amazing people 🤍

No one said this work was easy, but it’s always worth it 💫

What an event!

This weekend we welcomed Robert Horwell to Scotland for an intensive ‘Theatre of the Soul’ immersion and honestly, it was everything I hoped it would be.

For three days we explored the Four Temperaments through mask work - not performance, but by putting a spotlight on the traits we carry. We met parts of ourselves that were raw, powerful, vulnerable and at times deeply emotional. But there was also so much laughter.

This was an advanced CPD for a reason.
The first two days were devoted to personal exploration, understanding how we show up for ourselves before we show up for others. On the final day we moved into 1–1 and group work, exploring the elements and how this understanding can shape and strengthen our therapeutic sound practice.

Over the 3 days the group bonded through the masks, singing, Kirtan, and through shared vulnerability and also shared joy.

A special thank you to:
- Sidney, who travelled from Houston, Texas to be with us

- Alan - the best roadie in town, without Alan this simply wouldn’t have happened

- And Bob… this was a few years in the making to bring you to Scotland. It was absolutely worth the wait.

To everyone who trusted me and came along, even when you didn’t know what to expect, I have enormous gratitude and respect to each and everyone of you.

To sum the weekend up in the words of one participant:
“If you ever get the opportunity to work with Bob or Pauline, grab it with both hands.”

So… plans are already in motion for Bob’s return to Scotland!

Hope to see you at an event in the future.

I’m planning a one-day gathering in the West of Scotland for gong players to come together and play as one unified field.

This isn’t a performance day or a sound bath, it’s a CPD day for gong players in Scotland to come together regardless of where you have trained.

I will be guiding us through a special ‘Gonging As One’ event, I hope to see many of you there.

More details to follow 💫
