Happy St George’s Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🐉 St George is well known for his triumph over evil when he defeated the dragon to save a town and its princess. How does this story reflect itself onto ourselves and how society is today? The way I see it, the “Dragon” is our reptilian mind - our primal instinct that strives for and recognises aggression, s*x, competitiveness and base desires as a framework for orientating our lives. St. George in his wisdom, bravery and courage is a symbol of how devotion, humility, faith and sacrifice for the greater good can elevate our consciousness and inspire to to become better, be in service and help those in need by dominating those primal thought processes. Ultimately, it is the elevation of consciousness and the fine tuning of energetic vibration that leads to peace, community and health so we should all aspire to have the faith in evolution as St George did when he defeated that dragon.

Today marks the 100th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty was a profound testament to the embodiment of devotion, loyalty and service.
Her reign remarkably spanned over 70 years in which she achieved so much. A true Matriarch and conduit between the Crown and the spiritual planes.
Often overlooked by many as just a Royal doing her duties many of the virtues the Queen personified and incarnated whilst here on Earth most people should pay close attention to. God bless the Queen! 👑

Learning to forage for springtime greens and flowers is such a valuable skill to have. Food grown in the wild is connected to the natural ecosystem of growth and decline and sprouts from rich, nutrient dense soil nourished by the elements.

The learning never stops! As a Chinese Medicine practitioner I am learning, reading, studying, observing and watching every single day. Recently I’ve began studying Ba Zi, otherwise known as Chinese Astrology so that I can better understand the constitutional health of my patients. The Heavenly Stems and Earthly branches that make up a Ba Zi chart is an unimaginably large component of Chinese Astrology to learn so today I’m keeping it simple my practicing some calligraphy of the characters of the 10 Heavenly stems. It’s a very therapeutic and relaxing way to spend some free time. Ba Zi consultations will be available later this year but for now if you haven’t already enjoy 20% off lf first treatments until 31 March.

It really is amazing to scroll through social media and see trends such as "Chinese baddies" are flooding the online space. Having said that it really doesn't come as much of a surprise considering the catastrophic collapse of Western peoples health since the mid 20th century. As a civilisation we are in a terrible mess with our health so it is no wonder Gen Z, Gen X and millennials are choosing to opt for a more holistic solution with Chinese Medicine. The only thing I would say is to be mindful of "tik tok" style trends. Every single person is a complex living being with an indefinite amount of reasons and experiences that have led to them searching for better health outcomes. This means that to truly look into your health from a Chinese Medicine perspective you must find a local practitioner to guide you on your health journey rather than blindly following advice on social media. But by all means, drink plenty of hot water, keep your feet, neck and lower back nice and warm and avoid an excess of cold, raw salads, just like the influencers are saying 😊

As the days become longer and the sun is beginning to peak out from behind the clouds the Earth is reminding us that we are in a time of rebirth. Daffodils are in full bloom in the countryside and the early signs of Spring are noticeable everywhere we look. As the seasons change, so must we. Adapting our diet with the change of seasons is the cornerstone of health and longevity.

The Year of the Yang Fire Horse and why Chinese Astrology could predict England winning this year's FIFA World Cup.

Today marks the world famous Chinese Spring Festival and the beginning of the Lunar New Year.
The Chinese calendar works as a s*xagenary cycle, also known as the gānzhī (干支) which has been used for thousands of years to record time in 60 year cycles.
Each year within a 60 year cycle is a rotation of the Chinese Zodiac (known as the Earthly branches) of the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig.
The 10 Heavenly stems are an ancient way of the Chinese describing cycles of energy and change which correspond to the Yin/Yang energies of the Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water elements.

This year marks the Year of the Yang Fire Horse - the last time this happened? 1966 - when England won the World Cup.
According to Chinese astrology, these 60 year cycles don't necessarily repeat themselves, but they do “rhyme” thanks to their energetic signature.

Yang Fire Horse years are known for their explosive, fierce momentum. The archetype of a Horse is that it is reliable, strong, fast, intelligent and powerful. This means that this year is a good year to decide to take risks, move forward with ideas, start a new business, make big decisions and encourage growth.
However, a Horse is a “Fire animal”so along with it being a “Fire” and “Yang”year we are set for a triple Fire year. Chinese medicine balances the archetype of Fire with “Water”. This means that this year it is important to remain calm, balanced, grounded, introspective so that healthy relationships and boundaries can be maintained in what will be an emotionally and politically charged year.

This is such a simple and satisfying tea to make in the evening after dinner to prepare for rest and sleep. Red jujube dates (Dà zǎo - 大枣) and longan fruit berry (Lóng yǎn - 龙眼肉) work perfectly together as a Heart and Mind soother to instruct the body to prepare for rest and relaxations.
Both of these herbs are used traditionally to build Blood, strengthen immunity, reduce fatigue, reduce palpitations, calm anxiety and lift the mood. They are both warming herbs and are beneficial to take all year around. They are especially useful for menstruating, post menopausal and postpartum women. Other ingredients such as ginger and goji berries can also be added to this tea to fortify their benefits, however, this evening we’re keeping it simple.

I had to leave the house quickly this morning but woke up needing some nourishment to begin my day. I made a chicken stock yesterday which I used for this recipe.
The meal is called egg drop soup. It takes 10 minutes to make and is super easy. All you need in good quality chicken broth, toasted sesame seed oil, cornflour slurry and tamari. I didn’t have chives or spring onion in the fridge but if i did I would have sprinkled on top.
This meal is a nutritional powerhouse. Full of the chickens essence, collagen, protein, all of the amino acids and high vibration energy. If you want to give it a try let me know if you want the recipe.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should be eaten between 7am-9am as this is when the Stomach is strongest and most able to digest your food in a healthy and balanced way. Skipping breakfast or intermittent fasting raises cortisol the stress hormone in the body and long term depletes the Spleen and Earth element function so it is imperative you eat during this window if you want sustained energy for the day.
