Today, we pause to remember the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of a generation who faced the unimaginable and fought for the peace we are privileged to know.

On this 80th anniversary of VE Day, we honour the heroes who never made it home, the families who carried on with heavy hearts, and the legacy they left behind.

May we never forget their bravery, and may their spirit of hope and unity continue to guide us. 🇬🇧

No one tells you how strange it is to still be here when someone you love is not.

There’s this quiet ache that never quite leaves....an emptiness that doesn’t make a sound but somehow drowns everything out. It lives in the moments you can’t share, in the silence between conversations, in the fake smiles you wear just to get through the day.

Grief has a way of changing everything. It colors the world differently. Food doesn’t taste the same. Music sounds dull. Joy feels like a memory you once had, but now can’t quite reach.

People say, “Time heals.” But what they don’t say is that time also teaches you how to carry pain without dropping it in public. How to smile while you’re breaking. How to say “I’m fine,” when your chest feels like it’s caving in.

And maybe you’re not even grieving just the person. Maybe now you’re grieving who you were when they were still here. The version of you that had them to lean on. The version of life that made sense.

But even in the wreckage, there’s something brave in you that keeps going. Even when joy feels far. Even when you don’t recognize your own reflection. Even when it would be easier to stay numb.

That’s not weakness. That’s resilience.

You don’t have to know how to fix everything. You just have to take the next breath. The next step. And when you can’t even do that.....just be still. Even stillness is a form of survival.
