Bradford Sky (Pre-flight to Dubrovnik)
The sky’s a sullen, leaden grey,
Pennine rain won’t wash away,
7:08 and I’m standing still,
But the airport hum is louder still.
Busy bodies rush on through,
In a tide of humanity’s morning dew,
Two coffees in, I’m barely awake,
But there’s a journey that I’m bound to take.
Bradford sky, heavy and slow,
Underneath, a world ready to go,
Through the drizzle and the rain,
I’m leaving this old town again.
Dubrovnik calls beyond the clouds,
But here, it's just the morning crowds.
The rain taps gentle on the glass,
As engines roar, we’re moving fast.
Faces blur in lines of haste,
We chase the sun, but it’s all in taste.
Pennine hills watch us from afar,
As we rise where clear skies are,
But for now, it’s grey and cold,
Still, there's a story waiting to be told.
Bradford sky, heavy and slow,
Underneath, the world’s ready to go,
Through the drizzle and the rain,
I’m leaving this old town again.
Dubrovnik calls beyond the clouds,
But here, it's just the morning crowds.
Coffee warms my restless hands,
While daydreams drift like grains of sand,
I see the sea, the Adriatic blue,
But here, in the grey, there's nothing new.
Soon we’ll fly and leave behind,
This Bradford rain, this northern mind,
The sky will break, the clouds will part,
And Dubrovnik will greet my wandering heart.
