IBCLC Day is an annual celebration honoring the vital work of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants in supporting breastfeeding families.
IBCLC Day is observed annually on the first Wednesday of March to recognize the expertise and dedication of IBCLCs, who provide skilled lactation care to new mothers, expectant parents, and healthcare teams. These professionals play a crucial role in guiding families through breastfeeding challenges, offering both technical guidance and emotional support, and promoting infant nutrition and maternal health. In Hull and the east riding we are very lucky to have some amazing lactation consultants, who each day support women to achieve their breastfeeding goals.

πŸ“’ Exciting Research Opportunity! πŸ”¬βœ¨

Are you or someone you know impacted by severe PMS or PMDD? πŸ’–

The Humber NHS Research Team are looking for participants who struggle with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and severe Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)! πŸ’ͺ

🧠 What is PMDD/severe PMS?

It's more than "just PMS." πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ These are real mood disorders with symptoms like:

β€’ πŸŒͺ️ Intense mood swings
β€’ 😑 Irritability & Anxiety
β€’ 🌫️ Difficulty concentrating
β€’ πŸ’₯ Physical discomfort

These symptoms happen intensely about a week before your period and stop when it starts. 🩸 It’s NOT a hormone imbalance, but a negative brain reaction to natural hormonal changes. βš–οΈπŸ§

🧬 Why This Study Matters:

We're diving deep into how genes and environment influence the risk of psychiatric disorders linked to reproductive events like the menstrual cycle. πŸ”Our goal? To revolutionise diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and support for those affected. πŸš€ Your participation can make a HUGE difference in understanding and improving mental health for so many! 🀝

πŸ“ What's Involved?

Taking part is completely voluntary and flexible! 🌈 You choose how much you engage. We might ask you to:

β€’ πŸ“ Share contact & personal info (for research purposes only!) πŸ”’
β€’ πŸ—£οΈ Answer questions about your experiences (20-25 mins) ⏱️
β€’ 😴 Track your mood & sleep for two cycles πŸ—“οΈπŸŒ™
β€’ πŸ“§ Optionally be contacted for future research! πŸ“©

Every piece of information helps us build a clearer picture and find better solutions. πŸ§©πŸ’‘
We need as many participants as possible to make this study a success! πŸ“ˆ If you're passionate about advancing mental health research and want to help us make a big impact, we'd love to hear from you. πŸ‘‹

πŸ‘‰ Ready to learn more and sign up? Scan the QR code with your smartphone or type the short code into your internet browser πŸ”—πŸ“²

Please share this post with anyone who might be interested! 🀳 Let’s break the silence around PMDD and severe PMS together. πŸ“£

The whole city has worked so hard for this achievement and we are so happy to have been a part of this journey for so many families. 52% breastfeeding at 6 weeks is amazing and just shows what we can achieve in our wonderful city when we all work together. The model of care offered to families and the dedication, passion and commitment given by all staff and volunteers across the city has been and will continue to be an example of achievement that should be recognised across the country.

πŸ‘Ά The Hull Integrated Feeding Team and Hull City Council are proud to announce that, for the first time in the city’s history, over 50% of babies in Hull are being breastfed at six weeks, marking a major public health achievement. The Hull Integrated Infant Feeding Team has confirmed that breastfeeding rates have reached 52%, a dramatic rise from just 6% in 2008.

Start a conversation with someone today as talking to each other can be the first step in improving mental health, battling loneliness or accessing mental health support.
It doesn't have to be a big task, text a friend you haven't talked to in a while, chat to a colleague at work or go for a walk with a neighbour.
