On Thursday morning 18th of December, around 10.45, Bourne House Nursing Home was treated to a very special surprise.

We welcomed back the wonderful double act The Uplifters, who took over the downstairs lounge for an hour of pure festive magic for our amazing residents and care staff. Hilary and Rowan have the most incredible, versatile voices and an energy that instantly fills the room. Their Christmas show, themed around elves and Santa, had everyone smiling from start to finish.

Woven throughout the performance were so many much-loved classics, including “Viva Las Vegas” by Elvis, “Baby I Love You “ by The Beatles , "These Boots Are Made For Walking “ by Nancy Sinatra, and “Food Glorious Food" from the musical Oliver just to name a few. The atmosphere was joyful, lively and full of Christmas cheer. The show ended with Elton John's” Step into Christmas”,which is one of our residents favourite Christmas songs and they all sang along for the finale, which was so heart warming!

The Uplifters packed the show with so many colourful costume changes and Hilary looked stunning in her beautiful red dress as she performed” Can't buy me Love" by the Beatles, and Rowan really looked the part as Elvis! They have visited us many times before and they truly never disappoint – we always get excited when they arrive!

Our residents absolutely loved it, the lounge was buzzing, and it’s safe to say everyone is now feeling wonderfully festive and very much looking forward to Christmas Day 🎅🎶

On Wednesday 17th December at Bourne House Nursing Home, we well and truly kicked off the Christmas festivities with our residents’ Christmas party.

The day began with a delicious Christmas lunch in the restaurant – a traditional turkey roast dinner with all the trimmings, followed by a tempting selection of yummy puddings that went down an absolute treat, including a delicious homemade walnut cake generously presented to us all courtesy of the lovely Kay.

At 3.30pm, residents’ family and friends arrived and the downstairs lounge came alive with festive cheer as the amazingly talented Adina entertained us for a whole hour. A familiar and much-loved face at Bourne House, Adina never fails to impress – always looking fabulous, dancing, singing her heart out, playing the tambourine and dazzling us all with her incredible, swishy, colourful dresses (we’re very envious of her wardrobe!).

She kicked off the party with classic Christmas favourites including Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Walking in a Winter Wonderland and Santa Baby. She also sang Rockin’ All Over the World by Status Quo at the request of our wonderful resident Jones – one of her favourite songs – and Adina happily obliged.

The room was full of singing, dancing and smiles, with our amazing care staff joining in and even Chris, our manager, getting involved with a little dance and some enthusiastic air guitar .

It was also lovely to see Mr David Cowdrey who regularly visits us for St Matthew’s Church services and usually accompanies us on the keyboard, enjoying being entertained for a change. We loved seeing him up and dancing and having such a wonderful time.

A truly magical, Christmassy afternoon that everyone thoroughly enjoyed 🎄
