👣Diabetes and The Importance of Foot Health 👣

The prevalence of diabetes in the United Kingdom is rising. According to recent estimates, approximately 3.5 million people in England are registered as diabetics with general practices.

Between 2018 and 2022, more than 171,000-foot disease-related hospital admissions were reported for diabetic patients, which may have been avoided with early intervention.

Diabetics must prioritise foot care since major foot problems can occur if they do not take preventative measures. Diabetes can cause nerve damage and circulation difficulties, resulting in pain, tingling, and numbness in the foot, also known as peripheral neuropathy. This can make it harder to detect any foot injuries or the presence of sores or ulcers, which may take longer to cure due to restricted blood flow to the lower limbs.

This is why it is vitally important to implement daily foot care habits for diabetes patients.
