๐คFlying with earwax and whether it can cause problems๐ค
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Yes, it can make pressure discomfort worse๐
When a plane changes altitude, your ears need to equalize pressure through the Eustachian tube. If wax is blocking the ear canal, pressure changes can feel more painful or muffled. It wonโt usually be dangerous, but it can be uncomfortable.
A few tips before flying:
โข If you suspect wax buildup, consider ear drops ( olive oil ) a few days before travel
โข Avoid cotton buds โ they often push wax deeper
โข Stay hydrated during the flight
โข Swallowing, yawning, or chewing gum helps equalize pressure
โข Special earplugs can reduce pressure shock
If youโve had blocked hearing or pain recently, book an appointment with us and we can safely check/remove wax as long as you have applied wax softener for at least 3 days, preferably 3X a day ๐๐
