I was in this beautiful setting tonight, doing a mental health talk for a wonderful group of ladies at a fabulous local business.

My main focus was to supply coping techniques for life's everyday struggles and recognise the importance of thinking about themselves in their busy schedules.

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and discussing mental health and how it can effect us in different ways.

If you think it would be beneficial to your team please get in touch and I can put together a bespoke session just for your business.

Self-care is the practice of consciously doing things that preserve or improve your mental or physical health.

These days, when people talk about self-care they are generally talking about the conscious and deliberate choice to do something that looks after you and your wellbeing.

This covers the mental and the physical, and a regime of self-care should improve the way you feel in body and mind. Engaging in acts of self-care or a self-care routine (as many people refer to it) is clinically proven to help reduce or eliminate stress by helping you foster good habits and understand your needs.

Dusk run thoughts:
Does anyone else have the same?

*I'll definelty make it back before it's dark
*Slow and steady
*Breathe
*This feels ok
*OK half way, hmm not sure if I'm going to make it home before dark.
*Do I change my route to more road rather than through the woods?
*Nah, I'll definitely make it back
*Balls, I'm running to fast, now I can't Breathe, slow down
*It''s getting dark! what's that white thing on a tree? Is it a person going to follow me?
*George, don't go too far away, you have to protect me.
* I should have gone the road way
*What if someone is behind me and pushes me down the small cliff?
*What if I sprain my ankle and have to walk in the pitch black?
*Balls I'm running too fast, now I can't breathe!
* This would make a good insta post.
* Take a photo
*Nearly there, SLOW DOWN,
*No-one is Following you!
*Last creepy bit through the woods, What if someone dragged me into the woods?
*What if that guy is there again where I saw him last time, and scared me?
*Breathe you are nearly there
*Thank F**K I'm back on the road and it's not pitch black.
*This is definitely going to be my fastest run for a while.
(Stopped my watch)
*FFS I definitely thought I would of got a faster time than that.

Fear can stop us doing things we want to do, your thought process doesn't have to take hold. Remember to Breathe, remember we are in control.

The first step towards breaking free from worrying about what other people think is to focus on your own goals and values. Make a list of what you want for yourself, such as career goals or personal aspirations you have.

This will help you focus on what matters most in your life instead of worrying about what others are doing or thinking about you. It's important to stay focused on your own path, rather than trying to please everyone else around you.

If you are considering therapy, or if you are about to have your first therapy session, you may be nervous, skeptical, or downright frightened about starting. Most people have a natural fear of the unknown, which may be contributing to your feelings. As a mental health professional I share not only my thoughts on why these feelings are normal, but how beginning your therapy can actually help you overcome them.

Are you a conflict avoider?

A conflict-avoidant personality is a type of people-pleasing behavior where someone avoids conflict or disagreements at all costs and fears making others upset or angry.

Individuals who are conflict-avoidant tend to expect there will be a negative reaction and avoid even interactions that are healthy conflicts.

How do you know if you’re conflict-avoidant?

- Deny there’s an issue
- Fear or avoid expressing yourself
- Bottle up feelings — and later explode or become passive-aggressive
- Make jokes during confrontations
- Change the subject when conflict comes up
- Strive to be seen as the nice one
- Avoid disagreeing with others, even when you inwardly disagree.

Life's crossroads

It's a common theme with my clients.

When you come to a major crossroads in your life, you might approach it in several ways. Sometimes, you might make a quick, impulsive decision and hope for the best. Other times, you may take so much time considering your choice that you get mired in indecision and anxiety.

No matter which decision-making style you tend to use, you need to make choices you can feel confident about now and benefit from in the future. Being impulsive can lead to poor choices and unfortunate outcomes. Yet, staying too long in the contemplation phase can make you anxious and stressed
