Do you spend a lot of time in a sitting position? Or working in a forward flexion a lot? Is your back stiff and the front of your pelvis tight?

Try the stretch - relax in to it. Do it slowly and with control. Remember about breathing. Take time to relax and remember about hydration.

Let me know if you need some help or would like to book in for a session.

Diaphragm is associated with breathing. However, it is a muscle which has a big influence on many bodily functions. Some of them are :

- respiratory movements and connected with it fascia can influence good functioning of kidneys

- diaphragm can help in the body's response to stress and can affect the level of libido by stimulating adrenal glands

- diaphragm affects venous and lymphatic drainage (good function can, for example help to reduce swelling)

- regulates pressure in the body cavities, this influences the entire body, including proper function of Pelvic Floor Muscles

- as the diaphragm attaches to the spine, it's increased tension or dysfunction can cause back pain, and vice versa - spinal dysfunction or tension can affect our breathing

- the vagus nerve (which supplies internal organs) passes through one of the openings of the diaphragm. High tension in this muscle can press on the nerve and result in deregulated work of the organs.

It's amazing how our body is connected and one structure affects the rest. That's why it's important to keep yourself in balance, taking care of your body and staying active within your abilities.

If you feel sore, back pain keeps coming back or your body just feels tense and tight then do something about it. Do not wait for injury to occur or disjunction to deepen.

Keep stretching, stay active and hydrated, take time to relax and breathe.

And if you need help, please message me and book in for Remedial Treatment.

Many people complain of a neck and shoulders pain with tingling, numbness or other paresthesia coming down to their hand/s. Those symptoms may be present only at night or during work – this is often diagnosed as TOS (thoracic outlet syndrome). It can originate from the neck but also from shoulder plexus and arm area. Different groups of muscles can be involved.

However, very often the guilty guys are the muscles called scalene (see the picture). Small and thin but strong muscles at the front of your neck. Those muscles originate from cervical vertebrae, on the inside, and run down to first and second rib.
There is a neurovascular bundle (supplying hand with blood and nerves) situated between anterior and middle scalene. When those muscles are tight, they would squeeze the bundle like scissors and cut the supply.

You can help yourself by:
- stretching regularly,
- massaging the area above your collarbone and front of the neck.

If that is not enough, do not hesitate and book in for a Remedial Treatment.

take care of your body
Have a great day 🙂
