The Parenting Toolkit Course

Following a successful first run, we are delighted to announce that out 5 week ‘Parenting Toolkit’ course is returning!

Are you a parent or carer of a school aged child looking for practical tools, new ideas to manage behaviour, and ways to build calmer routines at home? This course is for you!
What you will learn:
How to understand children’s emotions and actions
Practical strategies for guiding children
Tips to improve communication and listening
How to build happier family life

What a great session of the babysitting course today at Stromness Academy We focused on first aid and basic life support.
Raj, Raven and Prue have gone on their first outing with three of our students - good luck everyone! Have fun!

Hi everyone! If you have a carseat (similar to photo) and happy to donate it to us, we would really appreciate it. Our virtual babies are going to be going on their adventures next week, and we would love for them to be easily transported.

This week, Hannah and Alison have been in Kirkwall Grammar School to speak with pupils in S1–S4 about the importance of regular self-examination for breast and testicular health.

During the sessions, pupils learned the key message: “Know your normal, check once a month, and speak to a trusted adult or doctor if you notice any changes.

It was great to see pupils engaging so positively with the sessions and taking an interest in looking after their health.

Hannah was fortunate enough to attend Bladder & Bowel UK symposium yesterday. She heard some amazing speakers, learned lots and has ideas to improve and promote the School Aged Continence Service here in Orkney. Watch this space!

Today, two of our virtual babies popped along with Hannah and Alison to a drop-in session at Stromness Academy to meet pupils and help spread the word about the babysitting course 👀

The course will be available as part of pupils activity choices and is a fun way to learn practical skills, build confidence, and see what caring for little ones is really like!
