Next week we will be welcoming the first Action Medical Research Events fundraisers of 2026 to the Race the Sun series in the brand new location: the South Downs!

We are chuffed to see that the gender split for this event is 53% male and 47% female. With our recent efforts over the years to help break down barriers that may prevent some from signing up or even considering a triathlon event, this is a fantastic result.

Hiking, biking and paddling their way around the gorgeous South Downs coast, these participants are in for a real treat. Now to cross fingers for that famous southern sunshine!

It is important to get comfortable with being uncomfortable for many reasons. In fact, there are a lot of benefits to experiencing the simplicity of an expedition, feeling the gratitude of a warm place to rest and savouring a meal after a day's effort on the trail.

Our DofE manager Alex Knill writes about coping with limited luxuries on DofE expedition and how participants can reframe their mindset to not only survive, but thrive, during their DofE journey.

Technology can be a hindrance or a help, used for good or a barrier to greatness. Through managing DofE expeditions and working with hundreds of young people, we have found the best replacement or distraction from phones is the outdoors.
