Therapy tip for the weekend 🧠
Limit phone (and other screen/tech use).
You can do this in a variety of ways depending on what YOU feel fits for your needs.
✨Put all your apps in a folder on your phone and make more steps to have to find the app on your home screens.
✨Remove socials from your phone and only use desktop versions.
✨ Put your phone in a drawer for the day
✨ Change your phone settings so that notifications only come through during specific times, or only specific people can ring you for emergencies. Or if you REALLY need a break then out your phone on airplane mode if you want to give yourself some much needed space.
✨ Explore what boundaries you feel would be wise for screen time and media use (of all kinds). Then begin to take steps to implement this. You may for example have a basic phone for weekends that people can call you on if needed.
✨ Return to the good old days with a basic 'dumbphone'.
✨ Set a timer and then when it alarms, you know that's time to out the phone (or other piece of media or tech) down!
There are many ways we can adjust our boundaries and engagement with the things that not only drain us via blue lights, but also feed up a constant stream of information to process. It has made our lives much more complex, in ways we don't fully acknowledge.
Taking time away from social media and technology devices will show you if you have an addiction, reliance, and/or are having your mental health negatively affected.
