💬 Student Spotlight: Deb's Story
Deb is such a good example of what I’ve been talking about this month.
A few years ago, she originally came to study Swedish Massage. She had the dream - to leave full-time employment and become a therapist - but her work life was intense at the time, and the business never quite got off the ground.
And here’s the bit I really respect:
She didn’t let go of the dream.
Instead of shelving it quietly, she reconnected with me at the beginning of last year and made a decision - to start again properly.
She chose to study Swedish again. Not because she “had to”, but because she wanted strong foundations.
This time, she committed fully.
Since then she’s gone from strength to strength:
Deep Tissue later in the year
And just this month, Table Thai Stretch
And - most importantly - she has now left full-time employment and is working as a therapist.
That didn’t happen by accident.
It happened because she trained properly, practised consistently, and built her skills layer by layer.
Here’s what she recently shared on Google after completing Table Thai:
“I’ve had a great couple days learning Table Thai Stretch massage. Kathryn is very knowledgeable and passionate about this technique, and it shows in her teaching. Her willingness to answer questions and share her unique style means you get more from the training. Kathryn explained techniques clearly and provided support materials including step by step guides (with photos) and videos. She gave advice on therapist posture/stance to ensure practitioners look after themselves as well as the client.
This is my third course with Kathryn and I always leave feeling confident and ready to put my new skills into practice — and my clients love it.”
What I love most about Deb’s journey isn’t speed.
It’s resilience.
She didn’t rush.
She didn’t dabble.
She built strength properly.
And now she’s living the career she originally imagined!
