Yesterday (14/10/25) I spent an interesting and informative hour listening to Dr. Olivia Wyatt ( Leeds Beckett University) present her research, “50 Years On: Caribbean Women and the Chapeltown Bonfire Night Incident of 1975.”
Dr Wyatt shared how Caribbean women played a key role in driving social change (before and) after the event, telling their stories through memories, history, and community voices. A perspective that may not have been previously explored. Being in the presence of others who continue to drive and campaign for change certainly was a privilege!
As a Psychotherapist I was left reflecting on the psychological impact on all involved at the time (and longer term)...Another piece of research, perhaps!
Thank you Dr Wyatt for highlighting this perspective and to everyone else for your ongoing work towards positive change ❤️
