This recognition is especially meaningful because it is based on completely anonymous feedback from both our amazing team and our clients, and is carried out independently by WorkBuzz 💬💙 It gives everyone the opportunity to speak openly and honestly, and we’re so grateful to every single person who took the time to complete it.

The feedback highlights that our team feel supported, valued and cared for, and that our clients feel the positive difference in the care and service they receive every day. That means everything to us.

Last week, we had the pleasure of being invited along to Anchor Woodview Retirement Home, where we spent time chatting with residents and members of the public about the life-enriching, personalised care we provide.

It was lovely to see so many familiar faces again, as well as connect again with Leeds Directory, Carers Leeds, Leeds Fire Service, Wiltshire Farm Foods, Oakwood Solicitors and many more.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us – we always value these opportunities to share, listen, and be part of the community 💛. Thank you for always making us feel so welcome 🙏

Our wonderful client enjoyed a classic Fish & Chip Friday, and it’s moments like these that remind us why personalised care matters so much. It’s not just about support - it’s about enabling people to keep living life their way, holding on to their routines, traditions, and the little joys that make a big difference to them.

Yesterday we had a lovely team meeting with a small group of our amazing team who were able to attend our first of two meetings 💛 in Horsforth.

We shared some exciting business updates about Right at Home North Leeds, Otley and Horsforth an celebrated our recent Gem Award winners and long service milestones - all so well deserved! 👏

Most importantly, it was a chance to come together, connect, and say a huge thank you for everything our team does day in and day out to support others. You truly make a difference 💫

And of course… it wouldn’t be complete without a little Easter treat! 🐣🌸 Everyone received Easter eggs and flowers as a small token of appreciation.

At Right at Home North Leeds, Otley and Horsfoth caring isn’t just what we do - it’s who we are 💙

Recently, one of our wonderful carers, Ellie, went on holiday… but even from the other side of the world, she was still thinking of the people she supports. She took the time to send postcards to many of our clients - a small gesture that means so much.

This is exactly what makes our team so special. We don’t just see this as a job - we genuinely care, and that never feeling never switches off.

We’re incredibly choosy about who joins our team (they all have to pass our “mum test”!) and it’s one of the reasons why our North Leeds, Otley and Horsfoth branch continues to be the highest-rated homecare provider in the whole of Leeds on www.homecare.co.uk

Reminder: Clocks go forward on Sunday and here's some wonderful information from Alzheimer's Society on how to help those with Dementia 🙂

Reminder - British Summer Time starts this Sunday⏰

When the clocks go forward it can be confusing for all of us, but it can be especially disorientating for people living with dementia, who might struggle with awareness of time.

As our days get longer and brighter, people living with dementia may find it harder to differentiate between 6am and 6pm. This disrupts their natural circadian rhythm and makes it hard for them, and those who care for them, to ensure they get enough sleep.

Thankfully there are a few easy things we can do to help minimise any disruption.

🌙 Consider having dinner and going to bed an hour earlier on Saturday. This means the person you’re caring for can still get enough sleep and can wake up at their usual time on Sunday, and that their routine will only be different for an evening rather than the whole day.

📆 Keep to a regular routine during the day and at bedtime. This can help to regulate a disrupted body clock. Doing regular activities at the same time each day – for example, going for a walk after breakfast – can help a person with dementia make sense of the time.

🚶‍♀️ Gentle exercise during the day can help the person feel sleepier during the evening, meaning they’ll go to bed at their usual time. If this isn’t an option, keeping them active during the day can have a similar effect. You could also consider using blackout curtains to reduce sunlight in the evenings.

⏰ Invest in an auto-setting clock. Some people with dementia can find it tricky to read a clock face, so often digital clocks are easier. You can also get clocks that show the day of the week and date as well as the time, and for some people a day/night clock can help them distinguish what time of day it is.

Quality care is often found in the small moments that make life feel easier.

It might be a Carer who helps you steady yourself as you step into the garden so you can check on the roses you planted years ago.

It could be someone preparing breakfast just the way you like it because eating well helps you feel ready for the day.

It may be support with washing and dressing after a hospital stay, offered at a pace that helps you feel safe and capable again.

For some, quality care is a reassuring voice during chemotherapy side effects or help managing medication so you feel less anxious.

For families, it might be live-in care that allows their loved one to stay in their favourite armchair near the window, with someone nearby who understands their mood and knows when to offer help.

At Right at Home North Leeds, Otley and Horsforth, quality care is shaped around you. We take time to understand what matters, whether that is sharing memories over a cup of tea, keeping to routines that bring structure, or offering skilled support that brings comfort and confidence.

Three members of our team have now completed nearly 200 miles as part of the British Heart Foundation Walk for Hearts challenge! What an incredible effort from Rachel, Sam and Kelly - we’re so proud 💪

Proof that teamwork really does make the dream work… especially when chocolate is involved 🍫🐣

Rachel, owner of Right at Home North Leeds, Otley and Horsforth took her role very seriously indeed - carefully assembling what can only be described as a masterpiece of Easter egg architecture!! Expertly demonstrated here by Georgia (take two… after a brief pause for uncontrollable laughter on attempt one , two, three and four 😆😆)

A little early for Easter…. but with the team growing, we’re making sure everyone gets one!
