Sometimes the hardest place to be is in your own mind. You can have all the life pieces 'together' and on paper be in a good place but if you can't be present then you're stuck in loops of old pain, future worries or self loathing.
Thoughts race, doubts echo and fears grow louder in the silence. It’s easy to get lost in regrets of the past or find processing trauma really hard! Spending time catastrophizing your future or preparing for worst case scenario all the time. Almost pre-emting. Thus, leaving little room for peace in the present moment.
The mind can become a maze of what-ifs, should-haves or to-dos feeling urgent. Making even stillness feel overwhelming. presence and true presence is the key to grounding yourself. When you focus on the now, the breath in your lungs, the feel of the earth beneath your feet or the sound of the world around you the internal noise begins to quiet.
Sure we need to explore the past and work on ourselves. Sure we need to have goals and dreams. Sure silence can be one of the most liberating things for us even when painful. However, living in one or the other can be detrimental to our wellbeing too. Being present doesn’t erase pain no but it gives you space to breathe through it. It reminds you that right here, right now you are okay. In that moment, you reclaim your power from the chaos within. Presence isn’t just peace it’s a path home to yourself.
