If you are aged 60-74 and registered with a GP in England, you will be sent an NHS bowel cancer screening kit in the post every two years.
You may receive a kit before you turn 60 as the NHS bowel cancer screening programme expands to reach people aged 50-59.
If you are over 75, you can ask for a home test kit every two years by calling 0800 707 60 60. You can also ring this number if you think you may have missed a bowel cancer screening or have not received a kit.
The bowel cancer screening home test kit is easy to do and could save your life.
If you have any symptoms you’re concerned about, speak to your GP – don’t wait for a bowel cancer screening kit to arrive.

If you’re aged 60 to 74 and registered with a GP in England, you will be sent a bowel screening home test kit in the post.
The test is easy to do and checks for tiny amounts of blood in your poo which may not be visible to the eye.
If blood is found, you may be at higher risk of having cancer or of having abnormal cells in the bowel that could turn into cancer if left untreated. The test does not diagnose cancer, but indicates if further tests are needed to look for signs of bowel cancer or abnormal cells (known as polyps).
If further tests show polyps these can be easily removed, reducing the risk of bowel cancer in the future.
If you receive a bowel cancer home test kit it’s important to do it – it could save your life.
If you have any symptoms you’re concerned about, speak to your GP – don’t wait for a bowel cancer screening kit to arrive.

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month
The earlier bowel cancer is spotted, the more treatable it’s likely to be. In fact, more than 9 in 10 people survive bowel cancer when it is diagnosed at the earliest stage. However, this drops significantly when diagnosed at the latest stage.

Test your knowledge over on Bowel Cancer UK website and you could be in with a chance to win a year's supply of Andrex toilet rolls...
