Cervical Cancer Prevention Week

Cervical screening (smear test) isn't always easy. But it is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer.

Cervical screening is not a test for cancer, it's a test to help prevent cancer. It checks a sample of cells from your cervix for high risk types of human papillomavirus (HPV).

High risk HPV can cause abnormal changes to the cells in your cervix.

Today we delivered toiletries and nappies to Urban House and also toiletries for Cap Care Wakefield to support disadvantaged people this was made possible by the kind donations we had been gifted to support our project In This Together (Wakefield)

We’re offering Cervical Awareness Training to help raise awareness, build confidence, and support open, informed conversations about cervical screening.

Our interactive session covers:

✔️ Real-life scenarios and practical solutions
✔️ Effective communication strategies
✔️ How to start supportive conversations

The training can be delivered face-to-face online or in-person and is suitable for workplaces, community groups, volunteers, and professionals supporting others to make informed health choices.

🎉🎉🎉 Fantastic News! 🎉 🎉 🎉

Here at Groundwork Yorkshire we are thrilled to announce that our “In This Together” project has been granted a further 12 months of funding to continue supporting our community with cervical screening and the HPV vaccine.

This extension means we can keep breaking down barriers, raising awareness, and empowering even more people to take charge of their health. 💙

We’re very pleased and excited about what’s ahead, and we’re looking forward to everything we can achieve together from 2026 to 2027.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far — we can’t wait for the next chapter! 🌟

💜Today, we had the privilege of delivering our
**free Cervical Awareness Training**
in person to dedicated staff members who support individuals affected by domestic violence.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share important knowledge that empowers frontline workers to better understand, identify, and respond to cervical health concerns among those they care for.

Together, we’re making a difference through education and awareness. 💜
