It's a pity the BBC were so uncritical of the ongoing restrictions on visiting on maternity units and the impact this is having on families during their feature today. There has been a huge and ongoing campaign nationally to ensure women and birthing people are supported by an adult of their choosing at scans, antenatal appointments and during inductions and postnatal hospital stays. Nobody wants to hear that midwives or anyone else are being subjected to abuse for these restrictions, they are almost always decided at Trust Board level or similar. Contacting your Trust's Chief Executive and your local MP and complaining via PALS has been the focus of the campaign. These restrictions are causing distress to families. The BBC failed to discuss this in a balanced way today.

Please share this. It's one of the few (only?) studies asking about birth experience. It's international so share widely. If you had an Independent Midwife please make this clear (use 'other' not 'private' or the private medical companies will get our good feedback and they really shouldn't!!) Thanks
