Happy 2nd birthday to our golden girl Maeve. Officially an adult, and we've survived the teen year thank gods, but we bet you'll never lose your daft puppy nature.

Dogs are wonderful aren't they? So many of them heal us in ways unseen and unknown. We got Maeve when I was in (yet another) deep depression. We brought her home through the first snowfall of winter 2023 and gradually I woke up to life again, seeing everything through her joyful eyes as she grew.

Training & loving her gave me a focus external to myself, and getting outside several times a day forced me to reconnect with my true medicine, nature.

By the time summer of 2024 came, she was 8months old and had recall enough to join me offlead on long country romps to gather herbs, and I had recovered enough to do so.

You might wonder why I'm sharing this on my business page, but it's no exaggeration to say that there would be no HH shop without Maeve. It's a really big deal for me to be visible and to interact with the public in this way, as I'm a solitary and reserved neurodiverse person - my usual daily routine involves taking Maeve out before opening & after closing, keeping me grounded & connected to ever-healing nature. If I'm really struggling, I bring her in (sorry to everyone who's been love bombed in the shop by madam!!).

Maeve's unconditional love & constant need for cuddles boosts my dopamine & serotonin & has been a big part in me coming off antidepressants (St John's Wort & other herbs take credit too!).

So, happy birthday and thank you for everything to our special golden Good Girl 🐕 🎂 🥳
