Medescon Ltd are proud to have worked along side & play our part in helping make the New Children’s Hospital (NCH) efficient in their delivery of patient care by installing thirteen, four bed high hospital bedlift stackers. This has enabled the hospital to store fifty-two beds in the space of just thirteen!

The New Children’s Hospital will provide essential healthcare services to children & young people as well as playing a central role in the provision of acute paediatric healthcare in a modern, custom designed digital hospital.

By planning & designing their hospital bedstore in advance of the build, the custom designed hospital have been able to ensure their beds are stored in the best possible location for their portering staff & ensure that “hospital bed patient experience” will be a positive one by reducing waiting times dramatically.

It’s always nice to show off our vertical hospital bed storage system to new clients!

Big thank you to Royal Derby & Russell Turner, Clinical Specialist & Equipment Library Manager for giving up his prescious time & allowing me to bring clients from Haywood Hospital, Royal Stoke Hospital & Sodexo Facilities Management.

Royal Derby Hospital was the first in the UK to receive the Vidir Five Bed Vertical Bed System. It has enabled the hospital to store twenty standard beds in the space of four & four bariatric beds in the space of one! Freeing up floor space and removing the need to store beds in corridors along with other benefits such as reduced manual handling injuries, reduced risk of damage to hospital beds & hospital infrastructure, time manegement & improved flow of hospital beds.

In March this year, Medescon ltd installed the Vidir five bed high hospital bed storage system at University College Hospitals London. The system has helped the hospital to manage their hospital bed flow & allowing them to have a more productive bed flow system.

Sometimes in life we have to be adaptable because the current situation isn’t always perfect! This was the case at Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Scotland. They had a valid space for Vidir’s vertical bedlift stackers which had the adequate head height to store the bedlifts but it was on a step, making loading & retrieving the beds impossible!

So to overcome this issue, Medescon Ltd designed a bespoke platform, strong enough to hold the bedlifts, beds & the movement of the hospital beds being loaded & unloaded along with extra long ramps! Problem sorted!

So even if you don’t think you have a useable space it is still worth investigating because in most cases we can make it work.

Vidir’s Bedlift is a cost effective hospital bed storage system designed to store hospital beds off of the floor and stack them securely in a vertical arrangement, which not only saves valuable floor space but removes potential fire hazards from hospital corridor. The S Series (Side Load) Bedlift is designed to load using the width of the bed requiring less floor space for loading. This is for spaces with a unique profile and space constraints.

This hospital bed storage rack will increase the hospitals maintenance departments’ capacity, organization, and product flow reducing down time, which increases the number of beds available for patient use at any given moment. Additionally, by removing unused ‘hallway beds’ from the corridors, hospitals will meet heslth, safety & fire standards for the storage of hospital beds. Oh The bed stacking concept is based on LIFO picking, the first bed is positioned onto the lift and raised opening up space underneath the bed for the next unit. The entire operation can easily be accomplished by a single individual simply by pushing a button.

Last week we started our vertical Bedstorage install University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The room has been transformed to enable comfortable housing of five high bedlifts to enable safe storage of valuable hospital beds & free up corridors & walkways!!

This is day two, our engineers are working hard to ensure a swift install!

Last weekend we delivered our space saving hospital bedlift stackers with thanks to the expert help of Daniel Rix & his company DLR Industrial too University College London Hospital ready to start works Monday!

Thanks to careful planning & hard work by all team members, the room at UCLH has been totally transformed into a useable space to house six, five-bed high standard bedlifts & one, four-bed high bariatric bedlifts totalling a storage capacity of thirty-four beds in the space of seven beds! Beds are stored safely & charged. This also still leaves good workable space still for maintenance & repairs!

You may not think you have a suitable room in your hospital that can house such kit as the Vidir Bedlift Stacker, but with some careful planning & skilled workmanship, it is possible to refurb a room that perhaps is not been used to it’s full potential. False ceilings can be removed & pipe work altered to create headroom for these fantastic hospital bedlifts!
