Oakwood Training

Oakwood Training Helping you develop a culture with employee wellbeing at the heart. WELCOME TO OAKWOOD. We help companies develop a culture with employee wellbeing at the heart.

Oakwood turned 10 this year and we’ve been reflecting on why we do what we do. Delivering mental health, wellbeing and conflict management programmes is what we do of course, but what really gets us out of bed in the morning is something much more. Our ‘Why’ is about creating happier, more inclusive, and productive workplaces where people feel valued and fulfilled and are at the very heart of the way the business operates. We believe it’s good for people and good for business. We are unique in being able to present a more holistic training package that joins the dots between conflict and wellbeing. Conflict can impact our wellbeing, but our state of wellbeing can also influence our response to conflict. We deliver a range of bespoke training and wellbeing services to sectors where people are key to business success. We develop content specifically for your business, so your people know what is expected of them rather than just overly generic content. We can deliver in any time zone or language. We believe that the messenger is as important as the message, and we take great care in ensuring our team can connect and inspire. We’ve built a team of incredible trainers who are not just academics. They bring their own extensive front-line, real-world experience from a range of diverse backgrounds to create safe environments where the realities of mental health, wellbeing and conflict can be explored. We ensure our eLearning courses and live trainer-led programs are culturally relevant by using native-speaking trainers to develop and deliver content in local languages. We consider cultural differences, perspectives, legislation, resources and signposting specific to different countries. We’d love to find out more about you and your organisation, and how we can help. Get it touch 🖥www.oakwoodtraining.co.uk, 📩info@oakwoodtraining.co.uk, ☎01858 469497

Grief is a word for some of the feelings you may have after the death of someone close to you.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Some people describe being overcome or frightened by their feelings, others say they feel numb.

The thoughts and feelings you have will vary. Sometimes, they may be very intense and stop you doing things. At other times, they may be in the background and you can still do your day-to-day activities.

We're very grateful to Ashley Brooks, Head of UK Security Operations at Tesco for his kind words and support this year.

It's been a pleasure developing customised training for Tesco that we have tailored around their specific needs. This has included managing conflict, dealing with traumatic/critical incidents, building resilience and enhancing wellbeing.

As seasonal pressures rise, resilience can start to wear thin.

Deadlines, customer demands and constant change can leave even the most capable teams feeling stretched, but resilience isn’t about pushing harder, it’s about recovery, perspective and balance.

In this short video, Oakwood’s Zuzanna shares her top tips for building personal resilience, from recognising early signs of stress to creating practical routines that help you reset and refocus.

Because supporting wellbeing doesn’t just happen at an organisational level, it starts with how we look after ourselves.

How are you helping your teams protect their resilience through this busy season?

Seasonal pressures can lift performance — or strain it.

As the year draws to a close, many teams face heavier workloads, higher expectations and hidden wellbeing challenges, from financial strain to fatigue, conflict and disconnection.

That’s why we’ve created the Strengthening Wellbeing Through Seasonal Pressures resource hub.

It brings together practical, evidence-based tools to help leaders and wellbeing professionals support their people through demanding periods, including blogs, videos and guides on:

The research backs up what we already know: men aren't very good at opening up, showing vulnerability and asking for help.

Even when we go to the doctor, we feel the need to show that we’ve tried to manage on our own and done everything we can, we’ve ‘manned up’, but things have got just a bit too much.

Oakwood Founder Terry Streather says we need to stop pretending we are all superhuman. The truth is, we can’t go it alone. We need people to share our experiences without fear of judgment or ridicule.

Maybe you are the one to do the truly brave thing and face into how you feel, open up and ask for help.

Maybe ‘No pain no gain’ is true? You never know, your short-term pain in doing so might be someone else’s long-term gain and give permission for others to reach out for help.

As seasonal pressures rise, it’s often the quieter signs of struggle that go unnoticed.

Checking in with a colleague about their mental health can feel daunting, but it’s one of the most powerful things a leader or teammate can do.

In this short video, Oakwood’s Zuzanna shares practical tips for starting open, supportive conversations about mental health, from choosing the right moment to listening with empathy and responding with confidence.
