A trio of letters acknowledging all the sporting success and medals for the DeaflympicsGB Team at the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics from Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

We were delighted that Keir Starmer wrote to all the DeaflympicsGB athletes over Christmas to congratulate them on their participation in the Deaflympics.

Great Britain Deaf Football Women Team achieved a bronze medal and the dedication of both teams and staff was impressive.

We will continue our work for not only acknowledgement but recognition and funding for all our our deaf athletes.

As 2025 comes to an end, we’re proud to share a letter received last week from the Prime Minister Keir Starmer congratulating our women’s football squad on winning bronze at the 2025 Deaflympics🥉⚽

A fantastic achievement that deserves recognition⚽️🇬🇧

But recognition alone is not enough. We will keep fighting for change.

GB Deaf footballer Lucindha Lawson has spoken out about how difficult it was for her team to compete at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo with no funding.

Lucindha, along with , are calling on the Government to fund Deaf athletes, just as they do for many Olympians and Paralympians.

With stories like this emerging, it’s no surprise that disabled girls still feel they don't belong in sport.

Our research shows that of disabled girls...

📍 44% say there are not enough opportunities, clubs or teams to join locally
🚧 42% say negative attitudes from others are a barrier
💸 39% say there’s not enough funding for disability sports

Every girl deserves the chance to thrive in sport. Disabled girls are no different.
