⚠️ Alert: Male asks woman to get into car on Thorpe Bay seafront.
A concerned mother wants to warn women after her daughter was invited into a car by a man on the seafront.
The woman was sitting in her car, parked in the bays by Thorpe Bay Yacht Club, whilst on her lunch break as a carer.
It is reported that the man then parked his car directly next to her car, despite there being many available bays.
The man then indicated for the woman to put her window down, and because he had a cigarette in his hand, she presumed he needed a lighter.
She had a lighter so she offered it but instead of taking it he said “Do you want to come get in my car?” and gestured with his hand.
The woman prompty declined and locked her car doors, calling her mother as she was so concerned.
But it’s reported that the man beeped his horn and again indicated for her to get in his car.
Her mother then arrived and approached the man. She told Your Southend: “I asked him what he was doing approaching a lone woman in her car, that it was disgusting, predatory and downright wrong.
“He kept saying ‘no’ but offered no explanation, so I’m assuming it wasn’t friendship he was after.
“I feel it was very premeditated. After expressing my disgust and anger at him he sped off in the direction of Southend at speed.
“He was aged in his 60’s, white, very stocky build, short hair, black glasses, large watch and no wedding ring.”
If anyone feels in a similar situation they should always report incidents to the police by calling 101 or call 999 if there is immediate threat or danger.
