My name is Claire Burgess, I am an Integrative Counsellor and accredited member of The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). My therapeutic style of practice involves creating a safe, empathetic environment where successful relationships are built on trust due to an open-minded, non-judgmental approach. This practice puts the client at the heart of the therapy allowing them to explore past or current situations, emotions, thoughts and feelings. A lot of my work with clients is quite solution based where clients bring current problems to sessions looking for better ways to manage their emotions/behaviours/thoughts. Working together with clients over the years I have supported issues such as; anxiety, depression, self-esteem, anger, jealousy, bereavement, identity issues, boundaries, body image, chronic health conditions and more general life activities that concern people. My skills include exploring heightened emotions in an empathetic and sensitive way through play therapy, understanding emotions around death and dying, managing the complexity of grief and adjusting to new ways of being. Alongside this I am also a practicing couples/relationship therapist with the ability to support couples looking to engage in the therapeutic process. If you are a couple struggling with communication, family pressures, betrayal of trust, intimacy issues or any other relationship needs contact me for a free 20 min initial consultation. My background is Health, Social Care and Education with experience of teaching and delivery of educational programmes in schools, colleges and residential environments. I am dedicated to the personal and professional development of those I work with encouraging people to believe they can achieve.
