Grasmere Surgery proudly hosted a successful Veterans Awareness Day on 23rd of April 2026, led by Armed Forces veteran Mike Mills, Mikes's PTSD support dog Ty, and Ady Darcy (Grasmere PPG Chair). The event brought together PPG members (Grasmere / Parks surgery), Practice managers (The Avenue, Grasmere and Parks Surgery) and the Leigh PCN GPA team. All showing strong support for the veteran community.

Nine veteran attended, creating a welcoming and relaxed environment where conversations flowed naturally. A standout moment saw two veterans discover they have served in the same division, different places- quickly reconnecting and leaving the event deep in conversation, highlighting the power of shared experiences.

She shared her journey with Stage 4 colon cancer that spread to her liver and lungs, found on July 18, 2023. Her story highlights the rising, often delayed, diagnosis of bowel cancer in young adults, focusing on fighting to bring awareness and leaving a lasting, positive memory.
