We had a fantastic festive get together last Thursday in our PCN, filled with good company, food and celebrations! 🎅🏽✨

And a great moment to announce that Leigh PCN won the Clinical Improvement Award: Mental Health at the prestigious General Practice Awards in London on Friday evening 5th of December!

We were finalist for two categories: Long Term Conditions and Mental Health. It was absolutely brilliant we walked away with one of them.

Great turn out for our Antimicrobial Stewardship awareness day!

When prescribing antibiotics, use the right drug at the right time at the right dose for the right duration!

Remember not all bugs need antibiotics!

Both the NHS and health organizations across the world are trying to reduce the use of antibiotics, especially for health problems that are not serious.

Antibiotics are no longer routinely used to treat infections.

This is because:
•many infections are caused by viruses, so antibiotics are not effective
•antibiotics are often unlikely to speed up the healing process and can cause side effects
•the more antibiotics are used to treat trivial conditions, the more likely they are to become ineffective for treating more serious conditions

For example, antibiotics are no longer routinely used to treat:
• chest infections
• ear infections in children
• sore throats

A Public Health England and NHS campaign to raise awareness of antibiotic resistance.

Great turn out for our WEAR IT PINK DAY for Breast Cancer Awareness Month last week!!And a big thank you to Jo our Neighborhood & Community Engagement Lead for planning the event and Janet Barrett for supporting any questions our Leigh patients had in regards to breast cancer and awareness.

Thanks to all our practices and staff for participating with our WEAR IT PINK DAY!

Remember Breasts can change for many reasons – like the menopause, pregnancy and breastfeeding, puberty or even during your period. So, if you check them regularly, you’ll be able to spot any new or unusual changes that should be checked out by your GP.
