. Why do we look at tongues when you come for your treatment?
Another Tuesday and another tongue đź‘… And a human one this time!
In TCM, the tongue is a diagnostic tool and we can use it to assess your overall health and internal imbalances or weakness in the body.
We look at the colour; the shape; the coating and the moisture. Different areas on the tongue also correlate to different organs in the body and the movement and the shape of the tongue can give us clues about internal pathogens or deficiencies.
What is this tongue telling me? This person:
🔥Has heat in the body- the yellow coating at the base of the tongue plus the red edges indicate excess heat, especially the tip. This shows a rising heat into the upper body, plus an element of stagnation= frustration!
💦Also has damp in the body, shown by the white, thicker coating, and swollen sides. This is especially in the Liver, clumping and stopping the flow of Qi & Blood= more stagnation= more heat! 🥵
Overall, this is showing that the flow of Qi & Blood in the body is hindered, creating frustration, agitation, and heat symptoms. Clear the pathogens and move the Qi.
