Celebrating Trustee Week - with Vicki Manley

I have been a Trustee for a couple of years. I love helping to shape the organisation by working with other trustees, staff and the management team.
Being a service user of SIL, means I can draw on my own experience too.

It has also given me various opportunities such as being part of the Charitable Funds steering group. I feel very privileged to have this position.

I have been a Trustee of SIL for over ten years and during that time I have been able to participate in shaping strategic decisions that improve the quality of life of vulnerable people who rely on SIL’s support to ensure they can live independently. For me, being a trustee is a great opportunity to be part of a much wider team working to improve the lives of disabled and older people and their families.
As trustees we all bring different experiences and skills to our organisation- as disabled people, carers and people with an interest in the services our charity provides.
By giving a little of my time to work with the organisation's managers and other trustees, I feel I have helped in a small way to plan for the future and support the organisation and its staff and service users.
I really enjoy learning about new things, meeting new people, and using my own experience and skills to contribute to something that makes a positive difference to people's lives
