In fact, over half of our trustees are either service users or family carers, ensuring that every decision is rooted in real-life experience. For 30 years, our choices have been guided by people who truly understand what independence means.

A lot has changed since we opened in 1996 - especially the prices! But while the cost of living has gone up, our mission has stayed exactly the same.

For 30 years, we’ve been right here in Hereford, empowering independence in our community. Whether it’s 1996 or 2026, our heart is with the people we support.

But for us, the biggest moment happened right here in Hereford. 30 years later, our mission remains the same: supporting and empowering independence in our local community is at the heart of everything we do.💙

Hello 2026! A very warm welcome to our 30th year.

We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful New Year’s celebration. As the decorations come down and routines return, we wanted to take a moment to say a proper “Hello.”

Before we dive into our 30-year celebrations, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to our incredible support workers and personal assistants. While many were tucking into Christmas dinner or counting down to midnight, our teams were out across the county, ensuring our service users remained safe, independent, and supported. Your hard work over the festive period - and the last 30 years - is the reason we have such a proud legacy. You are the heartbeat of SIL.
