Today we’re taking a moment to slow down and reflect on the little things that mean so much.

We are so thankful for:
☀️ The weather – those brighter days that lift everyone’s spirits
🐴 Our ponies – always there to bring comfort, connection and smiles
🤍 Our wonderful clients – who trust us and make every day so rewarding
🌱 The support we receive – from our amazing community
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family and friends – for always being there through it all

🐣🌼 ASDAN Animal Care – Running as Normal Today! 🌼🐣

Just a quick reminder that our ASDAN Animal Care session is on as usual today from 2pm – 4pm 🐴🐾

To add a bit of Easter fun, we’ll also be having an Easter egg hunt for everyone to enjoy! 🍫🥚

We’re looking forward to a great afternoon with the animals and some seasonal fun – see you all there! 💛

We’ve got a BIG announcement… after lots of “team meetings” in the field, the horses have officially decided they’re taking over the running of sessions 🤭

🐴 Queenie is now Head of Wellbeing – specialising in mindfulness (mainly standing still, soaking up the sun… and demanding snacks).
🐴 Daisy has taken over admin – emails will now be answered between naps and hay breaks, so please allow 5–7 working carrots for a reply 🥕
🐴 Storm is leading all fitness sessions – expect a lot more walking… mostly to wherever he fancies going!
🐴 Beck is in charge of emotional support – cuddles, quiet moments and the occasional cheeky nudge guaranteed 💚

They’ve also launched a brand new programme… “Humans in the Field” 👀
This exciting experience involves the horses observing you – your body language, energy and ability to open snack containers under pressure.

All bookings must now be approved by the herd (bribes encouraged… we mean, not encouraged).

In all seriousness – nothing’s changed, just our usual mix of therapeutic sessions, learning, laughter and lots of special moments with our incredible four-legged team.

Happy April Fools everyone!

🌼🐣 Happy Easter from all of us! 🐣🌼

We hope you all have a lovely Easter filled with sunshine, smiles, and a little bit of chocolate too! 💛

It’s been a wonderfully busy March for us here, and we’re so proud of everything our amazing young people have achieved…

✨ We’ve welcomed several group visits, giving more children and adults the chance to experience the calm and connection that comes from being around our animals.
✨ Delivered lots of 1:1 therapy sessions, supporting individuals with their confidence, wellbeing, and emotional regulation.
✨ Continued working closely with schools, providing tailored alternative provision and hands-on learning experiences through our ASDAN Animal Care programme.

Every session, visit, and interaction makes a difference, and we’re so grateful to everyone who continues to support what we do 🐴💚

Here’s to an exciting spring ahead! 🌱

What a windy day today. We are all definitely windswept. All the animals are pleased to be back inside out of the wind with plenty of food.
The chickens where definitely not happy.

Thank you Trotters Traders for our amazing prize. We look forward to getting everything planted and growing. This prize will not only brighten our stable yard and let the children who access our services grown their own fruit and veg but it will also give our visitors and volunteers a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the outside space.
Thank you again Trotters Traders.

💛 THIS IS WHAT COMMUNITY IS ALL ABOUT 💛

When we run giveaways at Trotters Traders, we hope to put a smile on someone’s face.
But sometimes something even more special happens…
Our Beverley winner Kirsty Mills popped into store to collect her Grow Your Own Garden Giveaway prize 🌱🌼

Kirsty messaged us to tell us something that honestly made our day.
Kirsty runs East Yorkshire Equine Assisted Therapy CIC, which provides mental health support for people in our community.
Last year they also created a small allotment with a local school they support, helping children learn how to grow and care for plants.
So this prize is going to help them grow even more this year.
How amazing is that? 👏

It’s moments like this that remind us why we love being part of such a kind and supportive community.

Kirsty, thank you for the incredible work you’re doing💛🖤

💬 Let’s show Kirsty and her amazing project some love in the comments below!

And if you missed out this time…
👀 Keep your eyes on the page… another Trotters giveaway is coming soon.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the amazing women and girls in our community 🌸
Today we’re celebrating two very special ladies here at EY EAT – our beautiful mares Queenie and Daisy.
These girls quietly show strength, patience and kindness every single day. They hold space for so many young people, teaching trust, confidence and calm just by being themselves. Whether it’s standing gently while being groomed, walking alongside someone who needs a moment of peace, or simply offering their steady presence, they do more than they will ever know.

Mares can sometimes be misunderstood, but Queenie and Daisy remind us that sensitivity, honesty and strong boundaries are powerful qualities. They show us that true strength doesn’t have to be loud.

So today we’re celebrating the women and girls who come to see us, the women who support and run things behind the scenes, and of course our incredible four-legged ladies who help make the magic happen.

Happy International Women’s Day from all of us – especially Queenie and Daisy 💜🐴

There’s definitely a feeling of spring starting to arrive here 🌱☀️
Longer days, a little more warmth in the air, and happy animals enjoying the change in season — it’s a time of new energy for everyone, both two-legged and four-legged.
Cleo the sheep has been especially pleased with the brighter mornings and fresh grass, happily pottering around and reminding us all to slow down and enjoy the simple things. 🐑💛
Spring always brings a sense of hope, growth and new beginnings here, and we’re so excited for everything the coming months will bring for our animals, young people and community.

This week our Thursday ASDAN Animal Care group had the opportunity to take part in something a little different — helping to clip the very patient and well-behaved Storm ✂️🐴

With Storm getting quite hot while working, it was important that we helped make him more comfortable, and this created a brilliant hands-on learning experience for the group. The young people learned about horse welfare, why clipping is sometimes necessary, safe handling around equipment, and most importantly how to stay calm and work as a team around a horse.

Storm truly lived up to his name in the calmest way possible, standing beautifully while everyone took turns having a go under close supervision. Experiences like this build confidence, practical skills, and understanding of real animal care responsibilities — all key parts of the ASDAN journey.

We’re incredibly proud of how respectful, patient and brave everyone was today… and very grateful to Storm for being the perfect teacher. 🖤

When a child with autism meets a horse 🐴💛
There’s something truly special that happens in that first moment.

The world can often feel loud, unpredictable and overwhelming for a child with autism. But horses don’t rush. They don’t judge. They don’t expect eye contact, small talk or social rules. They simply are.

When a child with autism meets a horse, the horse responds to energy, not words. It notices breathing, body language and emotion. If a child is anxious, the horse feels it. If they begin to relax, the horse softens too. It’s an honest, quiet conversation without pressure.
We often see:
✨ Shoulders slowly drop
✨ Breathing become calmer
✨ Hands reach out gently
✨ A smile appear without forcing it
For some children, it’s the first time they feel completely accepted without needing to mask who they are.

Horses offer clear boundaries, consistency and routine — things that many autistic children find comforting. Grooming becomes rhythmic and regulating. Leading builds confidence. Simply standing together creates connection.
And in that space, something powerful grows: Trust.
Confidence.
Self-belief.
It’s never just about riding.
It’s about being seen, understood and safe.

That first meeting isn’t just a hello between a child and a horse…
It’s often the beginning of a journey. 💛
