Happy hooves eal centre is being created to offer the opportunity for everyone to benefit from learning alongside horses. "The psychological benefits of working with horses are being recognised by growing numbers of therapists who work with autistic children, young people with behavioural problems, adults with depression or people with addiction" ( Tracey McVeigh The Guardian ). There is also increasing evidence of the positive affect that horses can have for many other groups such as those with eating disorders, dementia, the long term unemployed etc etc so in short everyone can benefit. We have chosen to focus on using Clydesdale horses primarily as we have found despite their great size the have the kindest calmest natures of any horses we have worked with. They are also classed as a rare breed so we hope to also support them in showing the versatility of their breed.

We couldn’t run happy hooves without our amazing team of volunteers. This weekend as a bit of a treat we took a group of us all for a bit of a jolly and some bird of prey flying training at Hawkeye falconry! We had an amazing time, met some wonderful birds and had lots of fun . Hopefully this will also allow us to expand our bird flying sessions in future with our service users too

If you enjoy making things and having a matter with like minded people pop along on a Tuesday night to our happy hooves shed. Projects so far have included planters, bird boxes and bug houses
