A Personal Update – Honouring the Body’s Signals

I’ve always believed in the body’s innate wisdom—and lately, mine has been speaking louder than usual.

Recently, I’ve been experiencing neurological symptoms, including:
• Tremors (mostly in my right arm, sometimes my left)
• Involuntary shoulder jerks, causing my head to pull toward one side
• Weakness in my legs, now using a walking stick for support
• Restless legs, especially at night

These symptoms have brought me face-to-face with a new layer of surrender and self-care. I’m sharing this not for sympathy, but to show that healing isn’t always linear, even for those of us who work in this field.

Here’s what I’m doing to support myself right now:
🌿 Weekly acupuncture
🌀 Hypnotherapy to help accept my current limitations with compassion
💊 Supplements to support dopamine production and neurological function
🧘‍♀️ Somatic exercises to gently reawaken the connection between brain and body

Still waiting for a neurology assessment, the doctor wrote a strongly worded letter to say I need to be ASAP however the waiting list is long and although frustrated I’m using this time to rest, reflect and attempt to use complimentary therapy to relieve my symptoms. Some days are better than others.

My intentions are to manage my symptoms so I can return to work stronger than ever.

With love and gentleness 🙏

✨ One of the things I love most about acupuncture is how the body can surprise us…

Sometimes a client will say, “When you put the needle in my hand, I felt it in my ankle!” Or, “We’re working on my headaches, but my digestion and mood have improved too — is that normal?”

The short answer: YES — and it’s part of what makes acupuncture so incredible. 🧠🌿

A single needle can set off a chain reaction — not just in the area we’re treating, but across the body. Clients often report pleasant “side effects” like better sleep, less stress, more regular digestion, or even feeling more emotionally balanced.

Your body has an immense communication system. Sometimes the changes are so subtle we only notice them later… other times they’re immediate and unexpected — like feeling a needle in a completely different part of the body!

One of my favourite quotes from a teacher is:

“A million things happen when a single needle is placed.”

And I truly believe that. Acupuncture doesn’t just treat symptoms — it supports the body as a whole to restore balance.

💬 Have you experienced this? I’d love to hear your story if something unexpected shifted during treatment.

12/06/2025

“Why do I feel sleepy once the needles are in?”

This is a question I get all the time — and to be honest, we’re not 100% sure!

But here’s what we do know: once the needles are in, your nervous system tends to shift into a deep state of rest and repair (known as the parasympathetic state). It’s the same part of your system that kicks in when you sleep — which is why you might feel drowsy or even drift off during treatment.

This is also why acupuncture is so effective at helping with stress-related symptoms like insomnia, fatigue, and lingering pain. When we spend too long in “fight or flight” mode (sympathetic state), the body can struggle to heal itself properly.

Feeling sleepy is actually one of the best signs that your body is responding well — it means it’s switching gears into recovery mode. And from there, so much healing is possible.

If you’ve experienced this during your sessions, let me know in the comments — or tag someone who always naps on the treatment table! 😴🪡💛

🌿 “My pain went away… and then came back again. Is that normal?” 🌿

Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing answers to some of the most common questions I hear in clinic. This is a big one — and yes, it can be totally normal!

Especially at the start of treatment, pain or symptoms don’t always fade away in a straight line. They can move around, change from sharp to dull, or even come back just as they were. While that can feel frustrating, it’s often a really positive sign.

What we’re looking for first is change — any shift in the pattern of pain or illness. Even if that change is temporary, it usually means your body is beginning to respond and rebalance.

Acupuncture works cumulatively, with each session building on the last. That’s why we often recommend a short burst of treatments close together at the start — it helps smooth out the ups and downs so you start to feel lasting relief sooner.

In the meantime, celebrate the small wins. They’re signs you’re moving in the right direction 💫

Six Weeks at Salon 5 – Feeling Grateful!

It’s been six weeks since I started working from my new space above Salon 5 in Gainsborough, and what a journey it’s been already!

A big thank you to the lovely ladies downstairs and to physiotherapist Jonathan for making me feel so welcome—it truly feels like a little healing hub. I’ve had the joy of treating a wonderful mix of both familiar faces and new clients, and the response to this powerful, natural medicine has been beautiful.

Last week alone, I supported clients with back pain, PTSD, stress, low motivation, migraines, and menopausal symptoms—each session tailored to support the body’s natural healing process.

This week, I’ve added an extra clinic day and am delighted (and a little amazed!) to say I’m fully booked for the next two weeks.

If you’re feeling the call to reset, recharge, and reconnect with yourself—naturally—drop me a message. Let’s see what acupuncture magic can do for you.

🌿 Spring into Balance with TCM Acupuncture for a Healthy Liver! 🌿

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring is the season of renewal and growth, closely associated with the Liver. The Liver plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth flow of Qi (energy) and emotions. When your Liver is in balance, you feel energized, calm, and clear-headed.

However, stress, poor diet, and modern living can leave your Liver Qi stagnant. This can lead to fatigue, irritability, headaches, digestive issues, and more.

💆‍♀️ How Acupuncture Can Help
Acupuncture supports your Liver by:
✔️ Releasing tension and stress
✔️ Improving energy flow
✔️ Aiding detoxification
✔️ Supporting digestion and eye health

✨ Key Acupuncture Points for Spring:
• Liver 3 (Tai Chong): Promotes the smooth flow
of Qi.
• Gallbladder 34 (Yang Ling Quan): Relieves
tension and aids digestion.
• Liver 14 (Qi Men): Benefits the chest and
reduces stress.

🥗 Spring Dietary Tips for Liver Health
Nourish your Liver with:
🌱 Light, fresh, and seasonal foods like leafy greens (dandelion, spinach, kale).
🍋 Sour foods (lemon, lime, apple cider vinegar) to support detoxification.
🍵 Green tea to cleanse and rejuvenate.
🥦 Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower) to promote liver function.

Avoid heavy, greasy, or overly processed foods, as they can burden the Liver.

🌸 Take charge of your health this spring with a personalized acupuncture session! Let’s work together to clear stagnation, renew your energy, and align with the vibrant energy of the season.
