🌞very pleased to have contributed to this!

Creative writing has been one of the safest places for me to put the things that feel too big to hold.

When words get tangled in the body, writing lets them breathe! It doesn’t need to be neat, clever, perfect or even finished. It just needs to be honest.

Poetry, journalling, scribbling half-sentences, mind dumping, whatever you want to call it, is a way of noticing, naming, and slowly making sense of what we’ve lived through.

So grateful to NCPS for sharing my words, and for recognising that creativity can be a powerful part of healing! ☺️💜

This is why I weave creative approaches into my practice. Because not everything heals through talking alone, and sometimes a pen, paint, any creative tool! knows where to go, before we do 🎨✒️

✨ Just completed training in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)

I’ve spent the last few days diving deep into Narrative Exposure Therapy, a trauma therapy model designed for people with complex, multiple, or prolonged traumatic experiences. And honestly… it’s powerful.

NET helps clients build a clear, compassionate timeline of their life story, honouring the moments of safety, connection, and strength as well as the traumatic ones.
Instead of holding fragmented memories that spike out of nowhere, NET supports people to piece their story together in a way that makes sense, reduces fear, and brings the nervous system some relief.

What I really love about NET is that it doesn’t rush!

It doesn’t erase or minimise what happened.
It creates space for clients to place each memory where it belongs, rather than it continuing to intrude on the present. combining both hot and cold parts of each event.

As someone who works with trauma, eating disorders, and long-term emotional wounds, this approach fits beautifully with the way I already hold clients’ stories: with curiosity, gentleness, and deep respect.

I’m looking forward to integrating this into my work! Helping people reclaim their timelines, understand their survival, and feel a little more at home in their own lives.

If anyone wants to chat about NET, training, or trauma-informed practice, my inbox is open. 🙂💜

🌱Authenticity in the Therapy Room. 🌙

🤘Yes, I’m a counsellor with tattoos, piercings, and an alternative style.
And no, it doesn’t make me any less professional, compassionate, or capable.😅

It simply means I show up as me. 💜

Because therapy isn’t about perfection.
It’s about presence.

🌞When I sit with someone in the counselling room, my aim isn’t to be a blank slate, it’s to be real. My appearance is just another way of saying:
✨ You don’t have to hide who you are here.

If my tattoos or piercings help someone feel it’s safe to show up authentically, messy, creative, colourful or raw, then they’ve already taken the bravest first step.🌱

That’s where the real work begins:
When we stop performing and start being.

Rest assured, it will not affect the work I do.

It simply means I may pace myself a little better and I may make more notes.

I adore my job. It feels like such a privilege to be able to walk with you all on a small part of your journey.

My commitment and the quality of therapy will remain the same 🙂

Thank you. 💜

💜 Anti-Bullying Week: Let’s Talk About Weight Stigma 💜

😢Bullying isn’t just name calling in the playground, it can be subtle, systemic, and deeply ingrained in our culture. One of the most overlooked forms of bullying is weight stigma, the judgement, ridicule, or shame people experience because of their body size.

It can sound like “harmless jokes,” unsolicited health advice, or praise disguised as concern. It can happen in schools, workplaces, families, and even healthcare settings. And its impact is profound, increasing the risk of disordered eating, body image distress, anxiety, depression, and social withdrawal.

This Anti-Bullying Week, let’s remember:
🫶 Bodies are not open for commentary.
🫶Health cannot be measured by size.
🫶 Words that shame do not motivate, they harm.
🫶 And everyone, in every body, deserves kindness, dignity, and respect.

If you or someone you know is struggling with the impact of weight-based bullying or stigma, support is available. Healing is possible, and it starts with compassion, not criticism. 💕

Learning never stops! 💫

😁I’m so excited to share that I’ve recently completed additional training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) 🌿

DBT is all about balance: holding space for acceptance while working towards meaningful change. It offers powerful tools to help people regulate emotions, navigate relationships, and cope with distress skills that can truly transform the way we live and connect.

I’m passionate about continuing to expand my knowledge so I can walk beside my clients with even more understanding, compassion, and support. 💜

🌱 Let’s Talk About Autistic Burnout 🌱

As a counsellor, one of the things I often see in my neurodivergent clients is autistic burnout. It’s more than just being tired, it’s an intense, overwhelming state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by navigating a world that often isn’t built with autistic needs in mind.

💭 What does burnout look like?

Struggling to complete everyday tasks

Withdrawal from social contact

Increased sensory sensitivity

Feeling overwhelmed or shut down

Struggling to communicate or “mask” as usual

⚠️ What happens if you don’t stop?
Without rest and support, burnout can deepen. It can lead to complete shutdowns, worsening anxiety or depression, increased physical illness, and a sense of losing skills that usually feel accessible. Many describe it as “hitting a wall” that they cannot push through.

🧠 Possible symptoms: physical and emotional:

Chronic exhaustion or fatigue

Headaches, stomach aches, or feeling run down

Heightened anxiety, low mood, or irritability

Difficulty focusing or remembering things

Feeling detached, hopeless, or “not yourself”

💛 Why it matters:
Burnout isn’t laziness or weakness. It’s your body and mind sending a loud, urgent message: something needs to change. Pausing, resting, and reducing demands isn’t optional, it’s essential.

If this resonates with you, please know you’re not alone. Reaching out for support, adjusting routines, and giving yourself permission to rest can be the first steps in recovery.

✨🎃 Break the Spell of Diet Culture this Halloween 🎃✨

Halloween should be about joy, play, and maybe a little mischief 😉not rules, guilt, or fear about food and bodies.

Diet culture loves to whisper its lies: “earn your treats,” “work it off tomorrow,” “watch what you eat.”
But you deserve to live free from those chains.

If you notice food guilt creeping in this season, pause and remind yourself:
💜 Your body is not a problem to be fixed.
💜 You don’t need to “earn” joy or rest.
💜 You are worthy of living fully! right now, exactly as you are!

Take a breath. Step back into your power.☮
This Halloween, let play and laughter be louder than diet culture’s ghosts. 👻

If you’re struggling with body image or food noise and want support, I have spaces available for counselling. Reach out, you’re not alone. 💫

🌳Reconnecting with the Free Child ✨

In transactional analysis we talk about the Free Child ego state, the part of us that’s playful, curious, spontaneous and alive. It’s the energy that makes us want to explore, to create, to laugh for no reason at all. ☺

🔕Somewhere along the way, many of us quieten that part. We grow cautious, responsible, busy. But our Free Child never disappears; it just waits for an invitation back.

Today, for me, that looked like climbing a tree, no agenda, no outcome, just fun. These small, light-hearted moments aren’t frivolous; they’re powerful. They help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress, and bring us back to joy. 😁

🧐Therapy often invites clients to reconnect with this side of themselves. Because healing isn’t only about understanding the pain, it’s also about rediscovering the parts of you that know how to play. 💜

What does your Free Child want to do today? 🌱

🕯️ Wave of Light 💜

Tonight, candles will flicker in windows across the world, tiny flames carrying enormous love.

💫Each light honours a life that ended too soon, a heartbeat that’s still felt in every breath, a story that will always matter.

Grief is not something to “get over.” It weaves itself into us, a thread of love that remains, even in its ache. And if tonight you find the weight of that love heavy to hold, know this: it’s okay.

It’s okay to cry.
It’s okay to be angry.
It’s okay to simply sit in the quiet.

There is no “right” way to remember.
Only your way.🫶

So, light a candle if you wish. Whisper a name into the night. Or just breathe, gently, knowing that your love, your memory, your grief, all of it is valid.

And above all, be gentle with yourself this evening. 🌙

🧠✨ Myth-Busting OCD ✨🧠

OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is one of the most misunderstood mental health conditions. Let’s set the record straight 👇

🚫 Myth 1: OCD is just about being neat and tidy. (this one is my personal pet peeve, legit makes my insides crawl when I hear this!)
✅ Fact: OCD isn’t a personality trait, it’s a mental health condition. It involves intrusive, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours or rituals (compulsions) done to reduce anxiety.

🚫 Myth 2: Everyone is “a little bit OCD.” 🤦‍♀️
✅ Fact: Being organised or liking things clean is not the same as OCD. OCD is distressing, time consuming, and can significantly affect daily life!

🚫 Myth 3: People with OCD can just stop their rituals if they try harder.
✅ Fact: Compulsions are not habits. They’re driven by intense anxiety and fear. Without treatment and support, stopping them can feel impossible.

🚫 Myth 4: OCD is rare.
✅ Fact: Around 1.2% of people in the UK live with OCD, that’s roughly 750,000 people. You are not alone.

🫶 OCD is not a joke, a quirk, or a preference. It’s a serious condition, but with the right support, recovery is possible.

🌍💜 World Mental Health Day 💜🌍

💫Today is a reminder that everyone has mental health. Just like physical health, it’s something we all carry with us every day, and it deserves the same care and compassion.

It’s also important to remember that while everyone has mental health, many people also live with mental illness, and that is different. Both matter. Both deserve support, understanding, and kindness. 🌱

Taking care of your mental health doesn’t have to mean grand gestures, it can be as simple as resting when you need to, reaching out to talk, or allowing yourself to feel instead of pushing it down.

This World Mental Health Day, let’s commit to breaking the silence, ending the stigma, and reminding each other:
💬 Asking for help is strength, not weakness.
💬 You are not alone in this.
💬 Healing is possible.

Your mental health matters. You matter. 💜
