This time last year I was hoping to support 2 families in 2025.
It turned out to be 8 and I am so honoured to have been trusted with these life event ceremonies and making them unique to each family.

Thank you ### Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas! xx

⚰️ Why is a coffin carried into a service?

In the UK this tradition goes back many centuries. Coffins were always carried by hand into churches and cemeteries because:

▪️It was seen as a final act of presenting the deceased before God and the community

▪️Carrying rather than wheeling was considered a mark of respect and dignity

▪️Older sites with steps and narrow paths made carrying the only option

Over time this became a lasting symbol of honour and care.

Today, whether the service is held in church or at a crematorium, coffins are still carried in by pallbearers. If you are ever asked to take part, or if you have already done so, it is one of the greatest honours you can be given.

You are supporting a loved one or friend on their final journey, a gesture that families remember with deep gratitude.

At Ashby Funeral Care we will always guide you through this. We will help you, answer any questions you may have and be there for you every step of the way.
