Could this be YOU?
Do you help someone close to you because they couldn’t manage without you?
You might help a parent, partner, child, neighbour or friend who is living with illness, disability, mental health challenges, addiction or age-related frailty. You might help them get dressed, manage medication, attend appointments, prepare meals or simply be there for emotional support.
If this sounds familiar, you could be a carer.
A carer is anyone – adult or child – who provides unpaid support to someone who needs help in their day-to-day life.
Many people don’t see themselves as carers at first. In fact, it often takes around two years for people to recognise the role because it feels like a natural part of caring for someone you love.
But if you are supporting someone regularly, your GP surgery would like to know.
By letting us know you are a carer, we can add you to our Carers’ Register so we understand your responsibilities and can support your health too. This may include:
• Flexible appointment times
• Help with prescriptions
• Access to vaccinations you may be entitled to
• Support for your own wellbeing
If you look after someone, please tell us.
You can let the surgery know in person, over the phone, or by completing a carer registration form and returning it to reception.
💙 Looking after someone else is important — but your health matters too.

🚨 Important Health Message from Your GP Surgery 🚨
The UK has recently lost its measles-free status following a rise in cases nationwide. This is a serious public health concern, and we want to protect our community—especially our children.
Measles is not a harmless childhood illness. It is highly contagious and can lead to severe complications, including pneumonia, brain inflammation, long-term disability, and in some cases, death. The majority of recent cases are in people who have not been vaccinated or have not completed their full course of vaccines.
The good news? Measles is preventable. The MMRV vaccine is safe, effective, and provides long-lasting protection.
👶 Parents: Please check your child’s vaccination record. If they’ve missed a dose or you’re unsure, contact us today—we’re here to help.
🧑 Adults: If you were never vaccinated or aren’t certain of your status, you can still receive the vaccine. It’s never too late to protect yourself and those around you.
By vaccinating, you’re not only safeguarding your own family—you’re helping protect vulnerable people in our community who cannot be vaccinated.
📞 Call the surgery or book an appointment online to get up to date.
Vaccination saves lives. Let’s work together to keep our community safe.

Your pharmacist can provide treatment or some prescription medicine, if needed, for seven common conditions - without you seeing a GP.

Think pharmacy first and get seen by your local community pharmacy team.

MMRV is now part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme, replacing the MMR vaccine.

It protects against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox.

Chickenpox is very common and can sometimes lead to serious complications, so vaccination helps reduce the risk of serious illness as children grow.

You don’t need to do anything — your GP will be in touch when your child is due.
