Box End Triathlon Centurion completed yesterday - a bit chilly on the bike but 10 mins. wiped off my time from last year. Great event.
Definitely feeling some DOMS today.

DOMS - Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness - when we work out, do new exercises, exert ourselves we create lots of micro tears in the muscles, causing inflammation, which is a good thing it's our body's natural healing response and so the tissues become sentisited and this is why we feel some pain aka DOMS. The body is saying take it easy, let me rest and recover which is very important!
POST EVENT MASSAGE can help with this soreness aiding a quicker soft tissue recovery by easing pain, regaining good ranges of movement, aiming to increase blood and lymphatic flow, to relax and a chance to check-in with how the body is feeling.
Post-event Massage doesn't have to be taken immediately after your event/exercise, but is ideal within 48hours.

Good Luck London & Manchester Marathon runners.

Post Run Massage Treatments available next week, from Monday 28th.

I have had the pleasure of treating runners this week pre-marathon, I am always inspired by people's stories and training achievements and commitments.

Post Event Massage is beneficial in many ways, importantly aiding quick recovery by promoting the soft tissue healing process, flushing out muscle waste products, reducing stiffness and the DOMS. Also, importantly you did it, relax! Take the time to relax after such an achievement and long training regime.
Ideally I recommend 2 treatments post marathon:
Day 1- 3 this is ideal for a light massage to help loosen, relax and gently stretch your muscles from any delayed muscle soreness.
Day 4 plus a deep tissue massage to treat any niggles, treating to restore good joint mobility and soft tissue motility, reconnecting and feel your muscles and to set you back on track for future training.
Any questions let me know!

Tech Neck?
Long hours of sitting, looking down, and responding to stress with our shoulders can cause a build up of over worked, tired and tense muscles and soft tissues and cause pain and headaches.
The neck is burdened with the tedious task of supporting our heavy heads. Working and resting, in a technology driven society, we are all at risk of tension and microtrauma from desk based postures in our head, neck and shoulder areas.
Battling against gravity - our muscles and are designed to glide freely around joints and across neighbouring connective soft tissues to perform an array of specified movements. However, when we are static for so long, with poor posture and work exposed tension, combined with constant gravitational exposure (an adult head weighs approx. 5kg) the body adapts and creates stability with stiffness, and generally compromises movement.
MASSAGE & REMEDIAL THERAPY & MYOFASCIAL RELEASE are all hands-on techniques to ease and re-establish pain free movement in the head, neck and shoulders (the rest of the body too), plus treating to help you relax and lessen muscle and soft tissue tension.
